Chapter 898 He Belongs to Her
Ava's words got cut off, and her eyes locked onto Madison. Then, they drifted down to her belly.
'Wait, is Madison really pregnant? If she spills the beans to Alexander now, Sunny's gonna end up being the illegitimate kid,' Ava thought.
"Alexander, tell me," Ava said, dead serious. "Is Madison really carrying your kid? I'm giving you one shot to come clean."
If it was a lie, she'd tell him about Sunny. If it was true, no point.
Alexander tightened his grip around Madison's waist and said, "Yeah, she's pregnant with my kid, and I'm gonna marry her."
Ava felt like her world was crashing down. She took a step back, tears of laughter streaming down her face.
"Bravo, Alexander, just bravo. I really misjudged you!" She couldn't even picture it—Alexander and Madison hooking up and making a baby.
Alexander was always all over the place. First, it was Isabella, now Madison.
Thank God she didn't get back with Alexander. Even if she had, there'd probably be another chick down the line.
Alexander was nice to every woman. If he really loved her, why'd he divorce her?
If he truly loved her, he should've told her, not dumped her with some lame excuse about "giving her freedom."
Alexander didn't even have the guts to admit he loved her. How could a guy like that be worth her love?
If he didn't have the guts, then he should never have it, never tell her he loved her.
But after the divorce, when he saw her getting close to other guys, he got all jealous and blamed her, like she was the one doing him wrong and he was just putting up with it for her sake.
Then out of nowhere, he told her he loved her.
In the end, it was just his possessiveness.
If it weren't for William, Alexander might never have said the word "love." What difference did it make if he knew about Sunny? Sunny would just be the illegitimate kid.
Ava turned and left, crying her heart out.
Alexander's body started shaking as he watched her go, a wave of pain hitting him hard. He suddenly ran after her.
"No," Madison hugged him from behind. "Don't go, let her go. It's already a mess."
Alexander pried Madison's arms off him. Just as he was about to open the door, Madison suddenly collapsed.
Seeing him about to leave, Madison grabbed a rock nearby and slashed her arm, then tossed the rock and screamed.
Alexander turned around and saw Madison's arm bleeding.
"Madison!" Alexander rushed over, picked her up from the ground, and held her arm, worried. "You're bleeding."
"Alexander, please don't go, okay? I'm begging you. If you go now, you'll just fight with her. I'm worried you'll be even more wrecked. You both need to chill." Madison said.
Alexander turned his head and saw Ava's car already gone. He felt a twinge of regret for not asking why she showed up.
He was just pissed at her, but with Madison like this, he couldn't leave her.
He scooped Madison up and carried her inside.
In the living room, Alexander carefully patched up Madison's wound with a first aid kit.
"I'm sorry, I hurt you," Alexander said.
"It's okay," Madison didn't mention she did it on purpose. She wanted Alexander to think he had hurt her, so he'd feel guilty and stick around.
"Madison, why do you think she came to see me today?" He didn't know who else to ask; Madison was the only one left by his side.
"Maybe she felt wronged for her husband." Actually, Madison thought Ava hadn't moved on; otherwise, she wouldn't have come here.
But she didn't dare to tell the truth, fearing Alexander would go after Ava. She couldn't let Alexander be with Ava. Alexander was her man, and she was determined to have him.
Madison's possessiveness towards Alexander grew stronger.
Hearing Madison's words, Alexander smiled bitterly, "Yeah, that's probably it, feeling wronged for her husband. She always does this. Whenever something happens to William, it's always my fault."
Before this, when William had an accident and almost died, Ava thought he did it.
If he didn't have an alibi, he wouldn't have cleared his name by now.
Seeing Alexander believe her, Madison breathed a sigh of relief.
She raised her other hand to caress his face, "It's not your fault. You just loved Ava too much, so you got hurt. It's okay, I'll love you from now on. No matter what happens, I'll stand by your side because I love you."
Alexander looked up, "You love me, so no matter what happens, you'll stand by my side, right?"
"Yes," Madison nodded firmly. "Loving someone means standing by their side unconditionally, protecting them, trusting them. If you don't love, how can you protect and trust? Alexander, I love you, so I will always believe in you."
Alexander thought of Ava's doubts about him. Supposing Ava didn't love him anymore, which was why she protected William.
Loving someone meant protecting and trusting them, so she loved William.
Alexander suddenly laughed, and then he cried while laughing.
The difference between love and not loving was so big.
Madison immediately hugged him. "Alexander, I love you, so I will always stand by your side. You don't need to worry. From now on, I'll protect you. I swear, I will never side with another man. I will always believe in you."
Suddenly, Alexander pushed Madison onto the sofa, carefully placing her injured arm aside and kissed her lips.
Then he picked Madison up and carried her to the bedroom.
