Chapter 329 About to Get Beaten Up
Ava was woken up on time by her alarm clock; it was now noon, time for lunch.
Her head still felt dizzy, and she was very sleepy.
But when she looked at the time, she couldn't go back to sleep. Otherwise, she wouldn't be able to sleep at night.
It wouldn't be a big deal if she wasn't pregnant, but since she was, she needed to think about the baby.
After getting up, she went into the bathroom, washed her face, brushed her teeth, took a shower, and then changed into clean clothes.
After coming out of the bathroom, she felt much more relaxed and less sleepy.
Ava went to the office and took out her notebook.
Mia had just come back from shopping outside.
Ava walked out of the office, holding her notebook, and when she saw Mia, she quickly greeted her, "Mia, yesterday I discovered a lot of issues. Look, these are the quarterly data from Wisdom Future Group..."
"I've already seen them," Mia interrupted her and placed the items on the table. "When you were asleep, I read through your notebook and combined it with those materials. I know about your findings. Wisdom Future Group indeed has issues. It may seem powerful on the surface, but in reality, it has many internal problems."
"Mia, they have such a high leverage ratio, and the data clearly indicates fraud. How did they manage to go public and evade regulatory authorities?"
Mia smiled, said nothing, and stared at her for a few seconds.
Ava instantly understood. It must be bribery.
Such things were already quite common.
"Wisdom Future Group once tried to bribe me to secure a loan, but I didn't accept it. If I accepted the bribe and loaned money to a company like that, the consequences would be terrible. As the bank manager, I have to be responsible for the depositors' money."
"Mia, in the finance industry, there aren't many people like you with a conscience," Ava admired her a bit.
"I'm not as good as you think. I just understand how to seek benefits and avoid harm, and you must learn this, too."
"Seek benefits and avoid harm," Ava remembered this phrase. "I understand."
At that moment, Ava's phone, which she had left in the room, rang.
"Mia, I'll answer my phone," Ava carried her notebook and went back to the room.
Not long after, she suddenly ran out of the room, holding her phone and notebook, "Mia, I'm sorry, something urgent came up, and I have to leave."
"What happened?"
"My friend had an emergency, and I have to go help."
"Is it urgent? Do you need my help?"
"Well..." Ava suddenly thought of something, "If I need your help, I'll call you. I need to go now."
"Are you not going to have lunch?" Mia asked.
"I don't have time. I have to go now," she replied.
"Should I drive you there?" Mia caught up with her.
"No, I'll drive myself," she declined.
"Alright, be careful on the road, don't drive too fast, don't run red lights, and don't be too rushed," Mia advised.
"I understand," she acknowledged.
Ava closed the door behind her. Mia reached the door and let out a sigh.
"She's way too rushed."
Suddenly, Mia froze.
What was wrong with her?
Now, she really resembled Ava's biological mother.
Ava got in her car and immediately called Victoria.
"Hey, Victoria, how's the situation now?"
"The situation is very dangerous. My brother is probably going to get beaten up today. My dad is really fierce, and he's tough on my brother and me since childhood," Victoria's voice trembled.
She was extremely afraid of her father.
"Can you delay it a little longer?" Ava asked.
"I've tried my best to delay. Ava, you just said you have a way to help my brother. Is it true?"
"It's true. I'm on my way now. The address you gave me is correct, right?"
"Yes, that's our home address."
"Okay, I'm heading there now. Wait for me at the door and let me in."
"Alright, I'll wait for you," Victoria agreed.
After Ava put away her notebook and phone, she drove away.
After about half an hour, Ava's car stopped at the entrance of a luxurious villa.
There were security guards outside, preventing unfamiliar cars from entering.
At that moment, Victoria ran over and waved. "Ava, I'm here."
She immediately asked the security guards to open the gate.
Ava smoothly drove the car inside.
After parking the car, Ava got out with her phone and notebook.
Victoria rushed up to her, asking, "Ava, what can you do to help my brother? Tell me."
Today, Dalton sent William home, and Victoria found out from the servants at home that Dalton's expression was terrifying, as if he wanted to devour someone, saying that William had lost a project.
Victoria was terrified, worrying that something had happened to William, so she called Ava. Her intention was not to ask Ava to save William but to let her sympathize with William.
But she didn't expect that Ava would come to the Bennett Villa to help William.
"I don't have time to explain now. Let's go see William first. You'll find out then," Ava said.
"Okay." Victoria nodded.
Ava took a few steps and suddenly felt uncomfortable in her stomach, feeling a bit nauseous.
"Ava, are you okay?" Victoria asked worriedly.
"I'm fine. Let's go inside quickly," Ava pushed through the discomfort and walked forward.
