Chapter 457 Jealousy and Envy
"I don't want to force you. I'm just reasoning with you. Let's discuss this properly."
"There's nothing to discuss about this matter. You want me to use William's heart to save Isabella? I'm telling you, it's absolutely impossible!"
Upon hearing Ava's resolute tone, Alexander's eyes revealed a mix of complex emotions. "Why is it impossible? Are you trying to protect William, or are you angry with me, intentionally not saving Isabella, wishing for her death?"
If the latter, though Alexander would be angry, he would harbore a faint, secret pleasure deep within, for it signified that Ava held him in her heart. She would feel envy and jealousy.
Just as he envied William, if William were to perish, it would not harm him.
"What are you talking about?" Vicky said angrily, "Don't even think about using William's heart to save your mistress. I totally disagree."
"Your agreement or disagreement doesn't change anything!" Alexander replied.
Alexander grabbed Ava's shoulder. "It's all up to you. You are his wife, the primary decision-maker for him. I promise you that as long as you sign the consent form, I will never see Isabella again. I'll do whatever you ask. I'll stay by your side forever."
In reality, he had already made a decision long ago, whether Isabella lived or died. He wanted to be with Ava, and he didn't want to deceive himself anymore.
However, to others, Alexander's words were simply unacceptable.
Vicky exclaimed angrily, "You scoundrel! Ava is William's wife now. You don't have the right to stand by Ava's side! I think you want William to die. You are so malicious."
Alexander sternly replied, "If your brother is dying, do you want her to stay by his side forever?"
"You..." Vicky raised her hand, trembling with anger. "You..."
"Enough," Ava interrupted their conversation, pushing away from Alexander, "Vicky is right. You clearly want William to die. What right do you have to say such things so casually? When you wanted a divorce from me, I obediently agreed and signed the divorce papers. Now that you want me back, do I have to return to your side again obediently? Alexander, you are ridiculous!"
"That's right." This was what Vicky wanted to say. She stood by Ava's side.
Ava may seem timid on a regular basis. However, in crucial moments, she didn't back down at all.
"So, you don't want to come back to my side at all? Even if William were to die?"
"Shut up! He won't die. He will definitely survive! Alexander, I'm not a dog who follows your every whim. When you want me, you take me. When you don't want me, you discard me!"
"I have always taken you seriously. Why do you see me like this?" Alexander's heart was bleeding.
"You were always like this." Ava's voice was hoarse. "Have you forgotten? How many times have you hurt me for Isabella? Every time, you believed her rather than me. Alexander, when you say you love me, I don't believe it at all. How can you claim to love someone and yet not trust her?"
"Then tell me, when did I not believe you? I believe everything you told me now. Tell me, and I will trust you!"
"Fine," Ava said, "Then I'll tell you now. Isabella is not a person worthy of being saved. Do you believe me?"
Upon seeing Alexander's silence, Ava smirked icily. "Look at that, what you just said contradicted yourself so quickly."
"Ava, this is not the same thing at all. She is at stake here now, regardless of what Isabella is like. If there is a chance to save her, she should be saved. After all, she has not done anything grievous."
