Chapter 1172 His Understanding

Bishop woke up after sleeping on the couch for two hours.

He opened his eyes and saw Ava playing with Sunny on the hospital bed.

Seeing him awake, Ava smiled at Bishop, "Bishop, you're awake. I thought you would sleep a bit longer."

"That's enough." Bishop went to the bathroom to wash his face.

After coming out, he picked up Sunny from beside Ava.

"Ava, do you want to go out for a walk? It must be stuffy in the hospital room."

"Bishop, how about we get a doctor to evaluate my psychological condition?"

Hearing this, Bishop was a bit puzzled, "You want to?"

Ava nodded, "Yes, I was a bit resistant before, but after thinking it over, I've changed my mind."

Bishop said, "Ava, I don't want you to feel any discomfort."

"I'm not uncomfortable. I think if there's really something wrong, it needs to be addressed. After all, I still have Sunny to take care of. I can't just tough it out on my own."

Seeing Ava's serious expression, Bishop knew she had really thought it through.

"Alright, I'll go find a doctor."

About half an hour later, a psychiatrist walked into the hospital room.

He wanted to talk to Ava alone.

Bishop took Sunny out for a walk.

After about forty minutes, Ava called Bishop, and he came back.

The doctor had already left, and only Ava was left in the room.

"Ava, are you okay?"

Ava responded, "I'm fine, don't worry."

"What did the doctor say?"

"The doctor said..." Ava lowered her eyes, tightly clutching the bed sheet.

Seeing her uneasy look, Bishop said, "Ava, if you don't want to answer, it's okay. It's your privacy, you don't have to tell me."

He wouldn't press her for things she didn't want to share, as it would only make her uncomfortable.

"It's okay, I want to tell you." Since it was Bishop, she had nothing she didn't want to say, "The initial diagnosis is anxiety and panic disorder. The high temperature and lack of ventilation in the enclosed bathroom space eventually led to fainting."

Bishop was silent for a moment, then he held her hand that was tightly clutching the sheet, "I'll be with you."

Ava forced a smile, "I'll find a way to adjust myself. I will overcome this, after all, I still have Sunny to take care of."

"You don't need to overcome it. If you feel bad, just tell me. I can do anything for you."

A thin layer of mist formed in Ava's eyes.

"Bishop." She suddenly called his name.

Bishop responded softly, "I'm here."

After hesitating for a moment, Ava asked, "Yesterday on the couch, what were you going to tell me? You asked if there could be something more between us, what did you mean?"

She suddenly wanted to know the answer, even though she had already guessed some of it.

Some thoughts come without reason.

Bishop's gaze was gentle and filled with deep emotion. His palm still rested on the back of Ava's hand, his thumb gently stroking, "Do you really want to know?"

Ava lowered her eyes, "I can guess some of it, but I'm not sure if I'm right."

"You're not wrong." Bishop knew what she had guessed. There seemed to be a tacit understanding between them.

Ava felt a tingling sensation on the back of her hand and withdrew her hand from his palm.

Bishop's mouth curved into a helpless smile, "I better not say it. I don't think it's the right time now."

Even though they both understood in their hearts, they still didn't say it out loud.

Ava sighed softly, "Bishop, I can't give you anything right now. My life is a mess, I can't..."

"I understand." Bishop gently interrupted her, "So I don't need you to give me anything. Everything will be resolved. Let's take it step by step and sort things out. The first step is for you to get well and then get discharged. We'll then slowly address your psychological issues, and I'll also help you investigate your grandmother's cause of death."

Bishop's methodical approach was what Ava needed right now.

She was deeply moved and nodded, "Okay."

"Daddy, Mommy."

Sunny suddenly called out "Daddy, Mommy" from Bishop's arms.

Ava was stunned, "Sunny."

She quickly reached out and took Sunny from Bishop's arms, "Sunny, did you just call Daddy and Mommy?"

"Daddy, Mommy." Sunny called out again, reaching his little hand towards Ava.

Ava gently said, "Sunny, your daddy isn't here right now. It's just mommy here. He's your uncle, can you call him uncle?"

"Daddy, Mommy." Sunny still called out.

Ava gently kissed Sunny on the forehead. Sunny was still too young to understand much, so she didn't force it.

Seeing the smile on Ava's face, Bishop breathed a slight sigh of relief. Watching their warm interaction, a gentle smile appeared on his lips.

He didn't mind being Sunny's daddy at all.
