Chapter 793 Deliberate Testing

Hearing that, Mia's mood tanked.

William was right. What did the Mitchell family mean to him? What did she, as his mom, mean to him?

He didn't even know she was his mom.

She was too scared to tell him; afraid he'd hate her.

Better to be hated as a stranger than as his mom.

She'd rather bear the pain herself.

William would think he hated some random person, which was better than knowing he hated his mom.

William, puzzled, asked, "I thought Ava was going to her grandma's today. Didn't expect to see you here. Your husband and Alexander didn't come?"

Mia replied, "They're busy, so I brought Scarlett out to spend some time with her."

"Really?"

William was curious. How busy could Alexander be to skip seeing Ava?

Unless he didn't know Ava would be here.

William couldn't shake the feeling that Mia wasn't her usual self.

"I might stop going against your son," William added, "but what if he keeps bothering Ava?"

Mia looked up and said firmly, "I'll make sure that doesn't happen."

"Why?" William was shocked.

'Alexander is her son, and she wouldn't help him?' he thought.

"Because Alexander and Ava are done. The harm he caused is irreparable. Continuing would only hurt Ava more. If it weren't for you comforting her, she'd be in even more pain. Thank you for being there for her."

No matter what kind of person William was, he was sincere to Ava and wouldn't hurt her on purpose.

Hearing Mia's sincere tone, William was half-convinced.

"Do you really mean that?"

Mia nodded. "Yes, I know you don't believe me, but every word is true. I swear on my life."

William frowned deeper.

Maybe Mia thought this way for her son's sake because she knew he couldn't have Ava and felt sorry for him.

No matter what, William was convinced that Mia was definitely on Alexander's side; After all she was his mother.

To test her, William said, "I have amnesia, and there's a medical project abroad that might help me recover my memory. Ava planned to go with me, but then she was kidnapped, and her baby had problems, which delayed everything."

Mia asked, "You still want to go, right?"

"I want to recover my memory ASAP," William said. "That project is perfect for me. Forgetting everything is really painful."

He looked down, feeling sad.

Mia remembered the suffering William had endured.

She heard he almost died, and at that time, Ava was forced to donate his organs, but she refused.

They had been through a lot.

"So when do you plan to go again?"

William shook his head. "I don't know. I mentioned it to Ava a few days ago, and she agreed to go with me, but we haven't set a time yet. I want to go soon, but now Ava's grandma has Alzheimer's, and I'm worried she won't want to go with me."
