Chapter 486 No Qualifications

Everything seemed too coincidental, making her unable to help but entertain the thought. Besides Alexander, who else would assist her like this?

Perhaps she had previously entertained doubts that it was Alexander who had caused William's misfortune, but these thoughts were merely her momentary impulse. Upon calming herself, she believed that Alexander was not reduced to doing such actions.

He might fight with William, but he wouldn't do such malicious things behind the scenes.

However, William and the injured person today both happened to have hearts that matched Isabella's.

She couldn't imagine that Alexander could do such cruel things to find a suitable heart for Isabella.

All of this was just her speculation. She had no evidence.

Alexander felt uneasy. "Why are you looking at me like that? I know you don't care about Isabella's life and death. I'm not telling you about this to show you that I am happy, but..."

Alexander paused, wanting to say something, but then stopped.

Ava asked coldly, "But what?"

She actually wanted to hear what he had to say.

After a few seconds of silence, Alexander continued, "If Isabella's surgery is successful this time, her body will be able to recover."

"That's good then," Ava said indifferently, "you can marry her."

"Ava, do you really want me to marry her?" Alexander frowned tightly.

"Isn't it you who wants to marry her? You promised her many times, even abandoned me for her."

Hearing Ava's words, Alexander felt very uncomfortable. "What do you mean by 'abandoned'? Didn't we make it clear from the beginning? We agreed to a marriage of convenience, and besides, I thought you..."

"You thought," Ava interrupted him, "You always emphasize what you thought."

"I asked you, too," Alexander said, "I asked if you viewed me as a brother, and you said yes. What else could I say?"

Ava clenched her fists. When Alexander proposed divorce and asked if she had always viewed him as a brother, she was too heartbroken at the time. Moreover, he was already going to divorce her. So, why should she tell him the truth?

She didn’t expect that this could also be used by him as a reason to refute her.

"You're right. We agreed to a marriage of convenience. Now that we got divorced, there's nothing to salvage." Ava couldn't be bothered to say more to him.

She was about to leave, but Alexander stopped her again. "Do you really want me to marry her?"

"It's your own choice to marry her," Ava almost roared. She really wanted to slap him. He was just too inexplicable.

"I don't want to marry her now. I want you now. I'll do anything for you if you are willing."

Despite Ava disappointing him greatly and even mistakenly attributing William's current state to him, Alexander couldn't help but yearn to win her back.

Especially now that Isabella was saved, he felt despaired when he thought of marrying Isabella instead of having Ava by his side in the future.

Ironically, all of this was of his own making.

Ava mocked, "Alexander, I don't want you anymore. I am William's wife now. You should face reality and stop bothering me."

"Ava." Vicky ran over. "Time's up. Are you okay?"

Ava shook her head. "I'm fine. Let's go."

Time was up. Alexander had no reason to stop her anymore. He could only watch helplessly as Ava walked away, powerless to stop her. He was the one who wanted to end this marriage. He abandoned her. Now, it was him who desired to win her back, but he found himself left with nothing.

He was no longer qualified, not anymore.
