Chapter 767 Remarrying Him

Mia clutched the water cup, her hands shaking a bit.

William sat in another chair.

Ava broke the silence, "Mom, since you're here, there's something I need to tell you."

"What is it?" Mia asked, looking up.

Ava held William's hand. "William made a decision at the operating room door, and I pushed him to do it."

Mia was shocked. "What?"

"Mom, I told William that if anything went wrong during the surgery, he should save my child first. I said if I woke up and the baby was gone, I'd die too. I made him promise, so he made that call at the operating room door."

"Ava," William said, worried. "You don't have to say this."

"It's okay," Ava replied, shaking her head. "I need to."

She looked back at Mia. "Mom, I forced William to make that decision. He did it for me."

"You got mad at him, hit him, yelled at him, and he took it all silently. Not because he felt guilty, but because he did it for me. He swallowed his pride. Mom, you shouldn't have hit him."

Ava had to stand up for William. He made those choices because of her; he shouldn't bear the blame alone.

Mia was quiet for a long time, then looked at William's swollen face.

The memory of William's pained expression, coupled with Ava's words, shattered her misinterpretation. He wasn't trying to hurt Ava; he was simply trying to protect her. The realization stung, especially now that she knew he was her son.

She had misunderstood her own son, scolded him, hit him, and looked down on him, leaving a bad impression.

"Why didn't you tell me?" Mia tried to hide her sadness, speaking as normally as she could. "If you had told me then, maybe I wouldn't have..."

Maybe she wouldn't have hit or scolded him.

But back then, she didn't know William was her son. Even if he told her the truth, she might not have believed him and might have kept hitting and scolding him, thinking he was being fake.

William said calmly, "You were very emotional then. Even if I had told you, you might not have believed me, and it would have made things worse. It's okay if you blame me. I was also worried you'd blame Ava."

Mia sighed deeply.

William was right. Even if he had explained, she probably wouldn't have believed him. Now she believed him and changed her opinion because she found out he was her son.

So, she listened to Ava and felt ashamed.

"Ava, why are you so stubborn? If the baby is gone, you can have another. But if you die, what then?"

"Mom, I get what you mean, but this baby is very important to me. I have to have this baby. Even if Alexander doesn't want it, I can raise it alone."

Mia pressed on, "If Alexander wants the baby, will you remarry him?"
