Chapter 448 Heart-wrenching Pain
"Divorce?" Ava asked.
"Yes, isn't it a fake marriage? Since it's a fake marriage, there has to be a limit. It's impossible for you to be married with him forever."
Ava said, "Let it be when he meets a girl he likes. He will certainly divorce me."
Mia couldn't help but laugh. "Your heart is even bigger than I thought. I think it's because divorcing Alexander has caused you to lose your expectations and reverence for marriage. Marriage is just a tool for you. It doesn't matter anymore, right?"
"Yes," Ava admitted frankly, "My marriage with Alexander has only brought me pain. Marriage has no meaning for me anymore, like an unused tool. When a friend is in need, I lend this tool to him."
With Ava's words reaching this point, Mia naturally had nothing more to say. Ava didn't care about her marriage at all, so she could easily use it to help a friend.
Alexander really hurt her deeply, to the point where she gave up hope.
"What about the child? What if the Bennett family discovers your pregnancy? Are you going to let my grandchild become a member of the Bennett family?"
"It won't happen, Mom," Ava replied, "This child is mine, and I will ensure that he has no association with the Bennett family whatsoever. I will bring him into this world. Of course, there is a possibility that the Bennett family might find out, and that could be my chance to divorce William. After all this turmoil, the Bennett family probably wouldn't rush into allowing him to marry another woman anytime soon. I'm just temporarily assisting William through a rough patch; we'll deal with the future later on."
Mia felt dizzy and speechless. In the end, she sighed in resignation. "You may see it as nothing more than aiding a friend through a marriage. However, you've overlooked one thing."
"What did I overlook?" Ava asked.
Mia said seriously, "You overlooked William's true thoughts. You think it's a fake marriage. However, he may not think so. If he takes it seriously and refuses to divorce, what will you do?"
"He won't. William knows it is a fake marriage, and we've made it very clear. Mom, he's a good person. We're friends." Ava trusted him a lot.
"Is that so? Is a child raised under Dalton's education really an angel?" Mia didn't believe that a demon would produce an angel.
A disguised angel was more terrifying than a real demon. Maybe William hid his true self even deeper than his father.
"Mom, what do you mean?" Ava asked uneasily.
"It is evidant," Mia stated coldly, "Dalton's malice is overt, easily discernible. However, the truly ominous villains are those whose malevolence remains undetectable. Is William truly as virtuous as he appears to be? I refuse to believe in such immaculate beings in this world. Sometimes, the more flawless something appears, the more perilous it is. Like a beautifully wrapped Christmas present that reveals itself as a bomb upon unwrapping, individuals of this sort are the most dreadful, concealing their true nature behind a facade of beauty, deceiving the hearts and minds of others."
"Mom, you don't understand William. You haven't spent time with him. He is not that kind of person. He has been so good to me during my period of distress, consistently by my side. I believe his kindness towards me is genuine."
"And what if it is genuine?" Mia retorted. "His sincerity in treating you well does not automatically make him a good person. Have you witnessed his demeanor in private?"
"I..." Ava didn't know how to answer.
She remembered how angrily William looked at his subordinates. It was indeed scary, and she had never seen that side of him.
"I caution you to tread carefully. Don't place too much trust in him. Don't be overly kind to him. People of this kind excel in deception," Mia advised.
Ava suddenly chuckled, "William treats me well, and he is sincere towards me. If it is considered a form of deception, then what about Alexander? He hurt me and divorced me for Isabella. If such an unmasked person like him is not considered ill-intentioned, then is he not bad? If William is truly a villain as you describe, portraying a different persona in private, then even if he treats me well and is sincere towards me, I cannot reciprocate sincerely or assist him, right?"
Mia stared at her, unsure of what to say for a moment.
"Mom," Ava continued. "I'm just a woman. I'm not a police officer or a judge. From my perspective, I'll be good to whoever is good to me. It's a simple matter. If he really is a bad person and does bad things, the police will handle it, and I want to treat those who are good to me sincerely."
Mia furrowed her brow. "Have you fallen in love with William?"
Ava frowned. "I haven't."
"Really? " Mia stared at her intently as if trying to see something from her eyes.
Ava avoided his gaze. "True. I don't wish to love anyone now."
Alexander had wounded her deeply, her heart already full of pain that left no room for another man.
