Chapter 788 He Deserves It
Alexander stayed with Scarlett a bit longer in the ward.
Later, Mia called him out. "Alexander, you should go rest."
"Mom, it's fine. I want to be with Grandma."
"I know, but you need rest too. Grandma's worried about you and asked me to tell you to go home."
Alexander had lost a lot of weight, and George felt bad seeing him like this. "Your mom's right, Alexander. You need rest. You were seriously hurt before. Don't make Grandma worry."
"Yeah," Mia added, "I'll contact Ava after you go back."
"Mom, do you really think I shouldn't see Ava?"
Mia sighed and patted his shoulder. "Alexander, Ava was in a lot of pain before, and now you are too. Seeing each other won't help. Do you think you can get back together? If not, you'll just keep suffering."
Hearing this, Alexander felt more despair. No one supported him.
Even his friends thought he deserved it.
'If that's the case, what else can I do? I do deserve it; it's all my fault,' he thought.
He closed his eyes, took a deep breath, and said, "I understand. I'll go now."
Dragging his tired body, he slowly left the hospital.
Mia watched him leave, sighed, and felt very sad.
George stepped forward and gently held her shoulder. "Mia, why are you stopping Alexander from seeing Ava? Do you really not want them together?"
George had wanted to ask but didn't dare oppose Mia. He only spoke up after Alexander left.
Mia wiped her tears. "Yes, they shouldn't see each other anymore. Their relationship is too damaged. Even if they force it, they'll end up like us. What's the point? They'll just be in pain."
George felt a sharp pain in his heart and sighed. "I'm sorry for making you suffer for so long."
He glanced at his watch. "Looks like we can't get divorced today. Let's do it tomorrow."
Mia looked through the glass at Scarlett in the ward.
"Even if we get divorced now, it doesn't mean much. We've agreed to take turns taking care of Scarlett. Let's wait a while longer."
Scarlett had helped her a lot.
She could live comfortably and have a good future, all thanks to Scarlett's help.
Although Scarlett had arranged her marriage to George, Mia had willingly agreed to it, so she couldn't blame Scarlett. She had just misjudged George.
So, Mia had a lot of respect for Scarlett.
She had previously held George's hand to make Scarlett believe they had reconciled.
If they got divorced right away, she would feel like a fraud in front of Scarlett and couldn't bear it.
No matter what, their marriage had to last a little longer.
When Scarlett's condition worsened and she forgot more things, it wouldn't be too late to get divorced.
Alzheimer's disease would get worse. At first, Scarlett would forget a few things but might remember them later. However, as time went on, she would forget everything, and her personality would change.
George felt a secret joy that Mia wasn't divorcing him just yet.
He didn't know how long he could delay the divorce, but this was good news for him.
However, after the joy, he felt a bit guilty.
He shouldn't be happy as Mia's decision was because of Scarlett's illness.
Now that Scarlett had Alzheimer's, how could he be happy?
George silently cursed himself for being a jerk.
