Chapter 743 It's All Your Fault
In the hospital.
Ava was supposed to have a minor surgery.
But because of her condition, it got really complicated and took six hours.
William waited, looking exhausted and worried.
When the doctor finally came out, William rushed over. "Doctor, how is she?"
The doctor took off his mask, sighed, and nodded. "The surgery went well. Ava and the baby are safe."
William looked stunned, his mind blank for a moment.
The doctor waved a hand in front of his face. "Mr. Bennett, are you okay?"
William suddenly collapsed to the ground.
"Mr. Bennett, are you alright?"
The doctor was startled and tried to help him up.
"I'm fine." William waved him off. "I'm just so happy."
He started laughing, then crying. To the doctor, he looked like a madman.
Ava and the baby were safe, and he was overjoyed.
"She's okay now."
William wiped his face, trying to shake off his exhaustion.
Just then, Ava was wheeled out by the medical staff.
William got up and rushed over. "When will she wake up?"
Ava was still out from the anesthesia.
The surgery had worn out the medical staff too.
The doctor said, "She needs rest. She should wake up by tomorrow morning. When she does, take good care of her. No stress or overwork."
William's eyes flashed with determination.
He nodded. "I understand. Thank you, doctor."
After Ava was taken to her room, William sat by her bed, holding her hand, heartbroken by how tired she looked.
He blamed Alexander. 'It's all your fault, Alexander. If Ava hadn't snuck out to see you last night, the surgery wouldn't have been so complicated. This is on you!'
'Good thing I told the doctor to move up the surgery.'
'If we had waited, it could've been much worse.'
'Ava must've been upset by Alexander, which made her condition worse.'
'Alexander, you bring bad luck to everyone.'
William thought, 'I wish I could kill you!'
'Where are you now? Are you dead?'
'If you are, that would be a good thing.'
"Ava, I won't let anyone hurt you again. I'll protect you," William vowed.
He kissed her hand gently. "I love you."
He touched her swollen belly through the blanket. "This is my child. He'll call me father. Alexander doesn't deserve it."
Just then, Vicky walked in with some food. "William."
William turned. "Vicky, you're back."
Vicky had been there during Ava's surgery.
By noon, she realized William hadn't eaten, but the surgery wasn't over, so she went to get him some food.
When she came back, the surgery was done, so she hurried to the room.
Vicky said softly, "William, you should eat something. You haven't had lunch."
It was already one in the afternoon.
William shook his head. "I'm not hungry. I want to stay with Ava."
