Chapter 1250 Open the Door
Alexander arrived downstairs at Ava's place but couldn't muster the courage to go up.
He paced back and forth for a long time, feeling too ashamed to face Ava.
He had trusted Madison so many times and even said harsh words to Ava. Now, with the evidence in front of him, he realized how foolish he had been.
He didn't know what to say to Ava to make up for his mistakes.
Ava probably didn't want to see him either; otherwise, she wouldn't have left the wedding quietly.
Ava came downstairs to throw out the trash and happened to see Alexander standing not far away.
Alexander also saw Ava and walked towards her.
Ava turned to leave as if she hadn't seen him.
"Ava, wait a minute."
"Don't come any closer!" Ava turned her head angrily and said, "I don't want to see you!"
Ava rushed back into the building.
Alexander followed her inside, chasing after her, but Ava quickly closed the elevator door, leaving Alexander to wait for another one.
After some twists and turns, he arrived at Ava's apartment door, but she had already gone in and locked the door.
He rang the doorbell for a long time. "Ava, open the door. I have something important to tell you!"
"What do you want to tell me? Are you here to question me about Madison?"
"No, I'm not here to question you. I'm here to apologize. Ava, please open the door."
"I don't need your apology, Alexander. Go back and live your own life. Madison is indeed a good actress who fooled everyone. Now that her true colors are revealed, this matter is over."
"Ava, at least tell me where you got the video and audio recordings."
Ava said, "I hired a private investigator. I noticed someone was following me, so I played along and bribed the person who was stalking me."
"Really? What about the video? It looks like it was taken a long time ago. Why didn't you bring it out earlier? Why wait until now?"
Ava's explanation was full of holes and didn't make sense.
"Alexander, stop asking. Now that we have the evidence, that's enough. Unless you think the evidence is fake!"
"No, I don't think the evidence is fake. Ava, please open the door, okay?"
"Even if I open the door, what can you say to me? Regarding the evidence, I've told you all I can. I can't say anything more!"
She had sworn on her son, Sunny, so she couldn't reveal the truth.
"Mom is in trouble. After the police took Madison away, a gunman attacked Mom. She was shot in the chest and is in the hospital undergoing emergency surgery."
Ava opened the door, looking shocked. "What did you say?"
Alexander was breathing heavily. "We don't know where the gunman came from, but Mom is temporarily out of danger, though she's still unconscious in the ICU. We don't know when she'll wake up. That's why I came to find you. I'm worried you might be in danger too. The gunman might be targeting our family. Let me protect you, okay?"
"Mom got hurt, why didn't you tell me earlier?" Ava said angrily.
"I'm sorry, it all happened so suddenly."
"Which hospital is she in? I want to see her," Ava demanded.
"Ava, Mom is in the ICU and can't have visitors. Someone is there watching over her. Wait until she gets better to visit her. Besides, it's already very late."
Ava said, "What do you plan to do about Madison? She's pregnant with your child. Even if she's sentenced to death, they'll have to wait until the baby is born."
