Chapter 1216 This is Common Sense

Alexander confirmed Madison's alibi and bailed her out.

It was already dark.

It was a bit cold at night, and Madison was dressed very lightly, shivering.

Alexander took off his suit jacket and draped it over her shoulders.

"The police said Jerry has been dead for about half a month," Alexander said. "You were the last person to see him before he died."

Madison's eyes were still a bit red, and she looked exhausted. "I don't know either. Jerry did come to me and beat me up, you know that. Jerry had offended too many people; a lot of people wanted to kill him. He came to me for money that night because he was really desperate."

Seeing Alexander's silence, Madison was surprised. "Alexander, you don't think I killed Jerry, do you? I didn't. How could I have killed him? I..."

"Don't explain," Alexander interrupted her. "I didn't say you killed him. Otherwise, I wouldn't have testified for you."

"Alexander, I don't know why Jerry died either. No wonder we couldn't find him all this time. It turns out he was dead, and someone dumped his body in the river."

"I'll have someone take you home. Get some rest," Alexander said, turning to leave.

"Alexander, wait a minute."

Alexander stopped. "Is there something else?"

"Alexander, I have something to tell you."

"What is it?"

Madison clutched the hem of her clothes, very nervous. "Ever since that incident half a month ago, I haven't had my period. It's been delayed for over ten days."

Alexander's brow furrowed. "What did you say?"

Madison quickly added, "I was supposed to get my period over ten days ago, but it hasn't come. I was scared, so I used a pregnancy test."

Madison paused, looking up at him with some fear in her eyes. "Alexander, I'm pregnant."

Alexander's face stiffened, his brow furrowing even more, and his expression suddenly became very unpleasant. "What did you say?"

Madison hurriedly explained, "I used a pregnancy test, but it might not be accurate. I'll go to the hospital to check again. If I am really pregnant, don't worry, I won't ask you to take responsibility. I will..."

"Shut up," Alexander interrupted her. "Didn't you take birth control pills?"

Madison's mouth dropped open in shock, and it took her a while to respond. "I was too upset at the time, I didn't think about it."

"Didn't think about it?" Alexander sneered. "That's common sense. Do I need to teach you that? Did you do it on purpose?"

Faced with his questioning, Madison's tears instantly fell. "So that's what you think of me. You think I did it on purpose, trying to use the baby to tie you down? I didn't force you to sleep with me that night. You pulled me onto the bed. Now you're making me sound so cheap. How can you say that?"

Madison tore off the jacket and shoved it into his arms, then ran away.

Alexander closed his eyes, took a deep breath, and then chased after her, grabbing her arm. "Stop."

With a cold face, he said, "I'll take you to the hospital to check and confirm."

"What if I am really pregnant?" Madison asked. "Do you want me to get an abortion?"

"Let's check and confirm first," Alexander said, dragging her towards the car.

Alexander took Madison to a hospital he had invested in. The doctor had already left for the day, but after receiving Alexander's call, he rushed back to the hospital to examine Madison.

The results showed that Madison was indeed pregnant.
