Chapter 1127 The Bed and the Sofa

"I wasn't impulsive. Whether Grandma gets confused again or not, you're not Ava. I can't treat you as her substitute anymore."

Alexander made himself very clear.

"Enough! Stop talking about substitutes. Don't act like you're doing this for my sake. If you really cared about me, you wouldn't be saying this now. I'm really tired. I need to rest. We'll talk later."

Madison ran off crying.

Alexander didn't chase after her, worried that an argument might disturb Scarlett.

He was deeply regretful of his actions, feeling like he had hurt one woman after another.

Maybe he was cursed.

He hadn't expected to bring this up with Madison at this moment.

Sometimes, no matter how well you prepare, an accident or a moment of rashness can ruin everything.

Madison ran back to her room in tears.

She shared the room with Emily.

Emily had just finished her shower and was about to get into bed to continue reading her novel and curse the author.

But when she saw Madison run in crying, she quickly asked, "Madison, what's wrong?"

Madison threw herself onto the bed, sobbing.

Emily hurried over to comfort her. "What happened?"

"Alexander wants to break up with me. He just suddenly brought it up. It's so unfair."

"No way," Emily was shocked. "How could he say something like that now? I get it. It must be Ava stirring things up. She's so disgusting!"

Madison gritted her teeth. "I don't understand. I've given so much. Why does it have to end like this?"

"It's all Ava's fault!" Emily blamed everything on Ava. To her, Alexander could do no wrong; it had to be Ava's fault. "She must be whispering nonsense in Alexander's ear. She's no good."

Madison wiped the tears from her face.

"What should I do now?"

"What exactly did Alexander say?" Emily asked curiously.

Madison recounted the conversation to Emily.

After listening, Emily said, "You're right. Just stall for now. Maybe Alexander will change his mind in a few days. After all, Scarlett's condition is unpredictable. She might need you again soon."

Emily used a tissue to wipe Madison's tears. "Stop crying. Don't let that promiscuous Ava get the satisfaction."

Emily's last words were spoken with gritted teeth, her eyes flashing with malice.

Madison took a deep breath, trying to hold back her tears. "You're right. It's not Alexander's fault. It's all Ava's fault."

Ava came out of the bathroom after her shower and saw Alexander sitting on the couch, holding a tablet, seemingly working.

His focused and serious demeanor made Ava feel a bit nostalgic, as if they were back in the old days.

But she quickly snapped back to reality. "I'm done. You can go shower now."

"Okay," Alexander put down the tablet.

"Alexander, I'll sleep on the couch. You're tall and big; the couch won't be comfortable for you."

The couch was just right for her.

"It's fine. I'll sleep on the couch. You take the bed. No need to be polite about this."

There was no way he would let Ava sleep on the couch.

Ava didn't argue further.

Alexander went into the bathroom to shower. When he came out, he found Ava already asleep on the couch.

Alexander frowned slightly. "Ava, why are you sleeping here? I told you to take the bed. The couch isn't comfortable."

"It's fine. It's quite comfortable. I'm much smaller than you. The couch is good for me. You take the bed."

Alexander stood by the couch, not moving. Ava said, "Go on. Stop staring at me. I'm tired."

Suddenly, Alexander stepped forward, picked Ava up, and carried her to the bed.

Ava was startled and almost cried out, but she held back, worried about disturbing Scarlett next door. She whispered, "What are you doing?"

Alexander placed Ava on the bed, then took the blanket and covered her, tucking it in on both sides.

"You sleep on the bed. I'll take the couch. That's final. If you refuse again, I'll sleep on the bed too. I don't mind sharing it with you." Alexander's tone was very firm.
