Chapter 778 Threatening Him Again
Mia turned her head and asked, "What's up?"
"Can I have your phone number?"
Mia was a bit surprised.
"You're the bank manager, and we'll need to stay in touch. Give me your number."
His tone wasn't pushy or threatening, but it had an authority that was hard to ignore.
Mia had met all kinds of leaders—some sleazy, some bullies. But Brandon was different: dignified, composed, and polite.
Plus, Brandon waited for a parking spot like everyone else. Most people in his position would have had one reserved.
He could've called ahead, but he didn't.
She took out her business card and handed it to him.
Brandon took it and said, "I'll contact you."
Mia smiled politely and got out of the car.
As soon as she did, her phone rang.
She checked the caller ID; it was Dalton.
Mia frowned, feeling annoyed.
She hung up immediately.
Brandon noticed this.
He couldn't help but wonder who was on the other end of the line, causing her to react so strongly.
Mia got into her car, and her phone rang again.
This time, without looking, she answered, "Are you done bothering me? Be glad I haven't called the cops. Don't push it!"
She hadn't called the police, not because she didn't hate him, but because it wouldn't help her.
And it wouldn't be good for Alexander either. The Mitchell family would go after Dalton, and things could get ugly.
So, she kept what Dalton did to herself.
"Who are you calling the cops on?" A calm male voice came from the phone.
Mia's heart sank. She rolled down her car window and looked at the car parked nearby.
She checked the caller ID again; it wasn't Dalton's number.
She saw the window of the bulletproof car roll down, and Brandon waved at her.
Even from a distance, she could see his smile.
Mia got nervous and quickly said, "Sorry, I thought it was a spam call."
"It's okay."
Brandon knew she didn't mean it, so he didn't blame her.
Mia sighed in relief. "Thanks, Mr. Smith. Now that I know it's your number, I'll save it."
"Alright. I'll hang up now. Goodbye."
"Okay, goodbye."
Mia hung up and moved her car. Brandon's car then pulled into her spot.
Brandon arrived at Ava's ward and saw William on the phone, looking agitated. "I'm warning you, don't threaten me again, or else..."
"What do you want?"
"So what if you have a video? I said it's fake."
"Real or fake, to me, it's fake. I'm not easy to threaten."
William noticed someone watching him.
He turned and saw Brandon.
William quickly said, "I have to go. We'll talk later."
He hung up. "Brandon, what brings you here?" William put his phone away, trying to hide his concern.
He took a deep breath, forcing himself to regain his composure before meeting Brandon's gaze.
"Who were you talking to? You looked angry."
William smiled. "Just some annoying people. It's handled."
The kidnapper had called again, trying to provoke him.
Brandon saw that William didn't seem to have it under control.
But since William didn't want to talk about it, he didn't push.
He noticed William's face was red and swollen.
"What happened? Did you and Ava fight?"
William smiled faintly. "No way. Even if we argued, she wouldn't hit me."
Mentioning Ava, his eyes softened with love.
