Chapter 101 I Can Help You Escape

These past few days, since being saved by Darwin, Fiona has been living in a surreal state. If Darwin had gone through some changes before, then in these past few days, he seemed to have completely transformed. He even gave up the alliance with the Ross family for her sake. Fiona wouldn't even dare to dream of such a thing, not even in her dreams.

"Fiona?" Janna Rhoads's voice sounded in her ears.

Fiona snapped out of her thoughts and looked sideways at Janna. "Grandma Rhoads, what's the matter?"

"What are you thinking about? I said your name several times before you responded," Janna asked.

Fiona felt a bit embarrassed. Fortunately, Janna didn't wait for her answer and continued, "After we arrive in Serene City, you don't have to accompany me all the time. You can go and meet your classmates and friends if you want."

"That's exactly what I was going to tell you," Fiona said, pursing her lips. "I really want to meet someone, but..."

Janna Rhoads noticed her hesitation. "Is it someone whom Darwin doesn't want you to meet?" she hit the nail on the head.

Fiona sighed helplessly. "Yes."

"Your lover?" Janna asked again.

Fiona hastily waved her hand. "Not a lover, but a childhood neighbor."

"Childhood sweethearts, huh?" Janna teased with a smile.

Fiona wanted to explain further, but Janna patted the back of her hand. "Alright, I was just teasing. How could you hide your feelings for Darwin from this old lady?"

Fiona was slightly startled. She had been under the impression that Janna didn't really like Darwin, but was she pretending all along?

"I will cover for you," Janna continued.

"Thank you, Grandma Rhoads," Fiona said, expressing her gratitude sincerely.

"Words of thanks alone are not enough. You must be a good guide for me!" Janna said, pretending to be strict.

Fiona smiled sweetly and nodded. "I promise to fulfill the task!"

Janna Rhoads looked at her. This little girl had such a charming appearance that she couldn't help but like her.

Originally, when she learned of the existence of a granddaughter, Janna had thought she could at least make Fiona a vice president in the company.

However, she had heard from other sources about what Darwin had been doing secretly recently. This man was probably giving up the alliance with the Ross family.

But why?

Janna Rhoads looked at Fiona. Wasn't the answer obvious? This promising seedling was probably not something she could poach.

Sigh.

It's nice to be a caring junior.

The plane landed in Serene City, and it was already early morning.

At the arrival gate, there were eight burly men. Luckily, they all spoke English.

After leaving the airport, the car drove straight to the city center, to Janna Rhoads's Seven Stars Hotel.

Fiona bid Janna goodnight. Upon returning to her room and lying down, Fiona quickly took out her phone. As expected, there were many messages from Darwin on WhatsApp, but it was different from before.

Even though he had waited so long for her replies, Darwin didn't get angry. He even sent two messages, along with some expression packs that seemed to reflect his grievances. Fiona couldn't help but smile, her lips pursed.

"Just now, Grandma Rhoads was here, so I didn't check my phone," Fiona replied.

As soon as she sent the message, Darwin's chat box showed that he was typing.

"Did you tell her that we're getting married?" Darwin asked.

Fiona stared at the words and didn't know how to respond.

Darwin had been acting unusually lately.

She still didn't feel like the idea of getting married was real.

Until everything was settled, she wouldn't tell anyone.

Otherwise, if it didn't work out in the end, Darwin wouldn't have anything.

He would still be the lofty Mr. Solomon, with countless aristocratic families in pursuit of him for alliances.

But she would become an even more pitiful little creature than she is now.

"We can talk about it another time. I'm tired and want to sleep."

In the early morning, at the Solomon Building's CEO office in Bay City,

Fiona wasn't in Bay City, and Darwin didn't feel like going home, so he stayed at the company.

Looking at his chat history with Fiona,

Darwin was actually not very happy.

He could sense that Fiona still didn't trust him.

"Well, goodnight."

Then, he thought of something and sent another message.

"Do you remember what you promised me yesterday?"

Fiona felt somewhat helpless.

Before she could reply, Darwin sent another message: "You're not allowed to see Dagmar."

He didn't know what Fiona felt for Dagmar,

But it was certain that Dagmar had ill intentions towards Fiona.

So, she must not meet him!

"Understood. Going to sleep now."

After sending this message, Fiona turned off her phone, quickly took a hot shower, and then snuggled into her soft bed.

When Fiona woke up, it was already twelve noon.

She was a bit confused and quickly turned on her phone.

There were quite a few unread messages, including one from Janna Rhoads.

"Fiona, Grandma has made plans with a friend today. I won't be available to spend time with you. Rest well; you can go meet your childhood sweetheart."

Fiona felt a little ashamed since she had overslept. She rubbed her hair and got up to brush her teeth and wash her face. There were still some faint bruises on her face, so she applied a little light makeup to prevent Dagmar from worrying. After finishing up, she opened the door, and two bodyguards stood on either side. Upon seeing Fiona, they immediately greeted her with great respect, "Miss Woods, lunch is ready. Shall we bring it to your room now?" Fiona shook her head and said, "No, let's go directly to the hospital to find someone." Besides finding Dagmar this time, Fiona wanted to get a check-up as well.

At three o'clock in the afternoon, Dagmar hurriedly arrived outside the obstetrics department. Fiona couldn't help but laugh, asking, "Why are you running?" Gasping for breath, Dagmar's face was red as he replied, "I was afraid you would have to wait. How have you been recently?"

"Not bad," Fiona paused for a moment and continued, "Dagmar, I'm sorry about what happened last time."

"What does it have to do with you? Is it that...?" Dagmar's teeth clenched, "Is he still bothering you?"

"Mmm," Fiona nodded.

"What about the child?" Dagmar hastily asked.

"He doesn't know yet," Fiona said, not wanting to talk about Darwin with Dagmar anymore, "Let's not mention him. I'm waiting for the report from the prenatal check-up."

Unexpectedly, Dagmar didn't seem to let go of this topic. "Fiona, in another two months, you won't be able to hide the child anymore. I want to know what your plans are now."

What plans?

Ever since Darwin proposed marriage to her, Fiona had made up her mind. If Darwin truly broke off the alliance with the Ross family and wanted to marry her, she was willing to face any obstacles ahead and stay by Darwin's side. But if Darwin broke his promise, she would leave this man without any hesitation.

"I can't wait that long," Fiona said, smiling, "At most another half a month, and I'll know what I should do."

Dagmar contemplated for a moment. "Fiona, if you want to leave, I have a way to help you."
