Chapter 647 Set Rules
Seeing Christopher on the verge of madness, Fiona raised an eyebrow.
"What's the use of going crazy now that everything has already happened? The path Charlotte will take will depend on the guidance of her parents. How you raised her before, and what values you instilled in her, will shape who Charlotte becomes."
Christopher paused for a moment and immediately said, "I only taught her how to escape and avoid danger."
Christopher's words got stuck in his throat.
Apart from these teachings, Charlotte had also witnessed Christopher fighting off the people who were after him.
Christopher had also shared with Charlotte many of his past accomplishments.
Sometimes, he would sit with Charlotte by the roadside and point out the vulnerable spots on people's bodies, explaining to her where they were most fragile.
Christopher intended to impart to Charlotte knowledge about the weaknesses of the human body so that if she were ever in a situation where she was abducted, she could effectively defend herself and create an opportunity to escape.
He didn’t intend to teach Charlotte how to kill.
However, from a different perspective, what he taught could also be seen as potentially making killing more efficient.
Christopher crouched down, holding his head.
He had heard earlier that Simon had been beheaded, and even now, the royal family couldn't find a trace of the killer.
At the time, he had thought the killer was a formidable figure.
Now that he knew the killer was his ten-year-old Charlotte, Christopher's worldview was collapsing.
Mike glanced at Fiona.
Fiona subtly shook her head, indicating for him to stay standing.
After a while, Christopher slowly calmed down.
Christopher took a deep breath and said, "Fiona, thank you for taking care of us father and daughter during this time. I understand your concerns about Charlotte. Tomorrow, I will take Charlotte away and make sure she doesn't pose a threat to anyone in your family."
"So, you've decided to continue living this dangerous life of running away, with your daughter?" Fiona asked, her tone cold and disapproving.
Christopher's hand trembled suddenly.
To be honest, this was the most stable period he and Charlotte had ever experienced. Charlotte had started school and was doing well. Her teachers had praised her many times. She could even skip ahead to the third grade instead of starting from first grade.
"Christopher, we all like Charlotte. She's still young and can be taught slowly. If you take Charlotte away, she might end up following your path and become a real killer!" Mike said in a deep voice.
Christopher looked up at Fiona.
"If I cared about that, I wouldn't have stayed with you all in the first place," Fiona said calmly. "I know Charlotte is not bloodthirsty. She took on this mission just to save you. Charlotte may seem a little strange, but that's because she grew up in a strange environment."
Christopher lowered his head in shame. "I was raised in the organization since I was a child, and I don't know how to raise a child."
"Christopher, Charlotte is doing well now. After she takes the entrance exam, she will live a happy life as an elementary school student and go on to attend a prestigious university in the future!" Mike said.
As a child, Christopher had often fantasized about it. He imagined going to school, attending a prestigious university, and becoming like those people who walked out of office buildings every day, sipping coffee and writing reports in an office.
"Fiona, don't worry. I will teach Charlotte well in the future. We won't be ticking time bombs around you!" Christopher thought for a moment and made a solemn promise to Fiona.
"If you want to prepare weapons for her, you can, but you have to establish rules with her," Fiona said seriously. "She can't take them to school, and she can't attack other children. If someone crosses the line, let her come back to us."
Originally, Fiona had planned to discuss this matter with Christopher after Charlotte passed the entrance exam. However, since he brought up the topic today, she decided to address it as well.
"I understand! You can go now."
Christopher nodded and then, after a moment, he turned around and walked out.
Mike nodded slightly and followed him quickly. "Christopher!"
He caught up with Christopher.
Christopher glanced at him and said, "If you're apologizing for letting it slip, there's no need. It's good for me to know this."
Otherwise, Christopher would never know how deeply Charlotte was affected by him.
"When you go back later, don't scold Charlotte. Charlotte is about to take the entrance exam, and if her mood is affected, she might not do well on the exam!" Mike said seriously.
Christopher thought for a moment. "I won't say anything!"
"Are you sure you won’t?"
"I'll just pretend I’m not aware of this!" Christopher continued.
Mike grinned. "Very well! I also think it's better not to say anything. Simon deserved to die anyway, and Charlotte did a good thing! You don't need to bring up old grudges because of such scum!"
Christopher remained silent as he quickened his pace on the way back home.
When they arrived at the dormitory area, Charlotte was standing under the eaves, seemingly waiting for Christopher. She was dressed in thin clothes.
Seeing this, Christopher immediately ran over. "It's so cold, put on a jacket!"
"Father, why did she come to find you? Did I do something wrong?" Charlotte asked.
Christopher shook his head. "She was just talking about your entrance exam."
"You're lying." Charlotte stared at him, feeling helpless. "If I made a mistake, you can just say it. I know what mistakes I made, and I know how to improve."
Christopher felt a bitterness in his heart.
Charlotte couldn't even clearly distinguish whether her actions were right or wrong in the eyes of others.
"You didn't make any mistakes. Mike just couldn't keep his mouth shut!" He turned and pointed at Mike.
Mike fell silent.
That’s right! It was him who couldn't keep his mouth shut!
"I told Fiona about the dagger I ordered for you."
Charlotte frowned and glanced at Mike, then lowered her eyelids. "I can do without it."
What mattered most was Charlotte staying with her father.
"No, Fiona is a good person. She likes you, so how could she not give it to you?" Christopher quickly said, "But we have to establish some rules. You can't bring it to school when you're studying, and you can't use it on your classmates. If there are annoying kids, just come back and tell me or Fiona, and we'll handle it."
"I won't attack kids," Charlotte said seriously.
During her hide-and-seek games, Charlotte had also been bullied by those children who seemed to lack intelligence.
In a physical altercation, those children wouldn't stand a chance against Charlotte.
However, Charlotte never laid a hand on them.
"I’m just saying that you should use it carefully." Christopher looked at Charlotte.
He couldn't imagine how someone as small as Charlotte could decapitate Simon and escape from the royal palace with his head.
The danger in all of this was too much for Christopher to contemplate. If there were even a slight slip-up, Charlotte would be a goner.
Thinking about this, Christopher suddenly felt a chill down his spine
"Charlotte," Christopher gently touched Charlotte's head, "from now on, the two of us, father and daughter, must be loyal to Fiona. Fiona has given us a new life and a new beginning. For us, she has made a second declaration. Fiona is a good person, do you understand?"
Charlotte nodded.
At this time, no one could have predicted that Fiona's simple action would save her and her two children's lives in the future.
