Chapter 791 Not Naive and Sweet

This was Chicago's first time participating in such a literary performance.
It was an experience more gratifying to her than delivering speeches at art exhibitions.
With her father, Janna, and Uncle Stuart present to witness her rehearsal, her spirits soared.
Anticipation of the upcoming performance, where the entire family would offer their support.
Just the thought of it made Chicago feel happy.
At the dining table, unlike typically reticent, she engaged in lively conversation with her father, grandmother, and Uncle Stuart.
"After watching my darling's rehearsal today, I was no longer worried!" Janna chuckled. "God knows how worried I was before that Stuart and Mike would lead our Chicago off-key to the singing!"
Mike was absent.
Stuart, who had lost his memory with a bewildered look on his face, had no idea why.
When he glanced at Darwin beside him,
Stuart felt he wasn't the only one confused.
Not to mention Darwin, even if he hadn't lost his memory, he might not know what had happened.
However...
"What? Stuart and Mike are both tone-deaf?" Darwin's smile was bright and clear.
Stuart thought, 'Was this the cunning businessman rumored about? His mind worked so fast!'
"More than just being tone-deaf, at this rate, when Chicago was just starting to talk, dare they teach her to sing. By the time I found out, they had been teaching for seven to eight months!" Janna said with anger. "Before Chicago turned three, she couldn't be in tune with humming!"
Not to mention Janna, even Darwin was now looking a bit scared.
"Do I really sing off-key?" Stuart muttered.
"Go home, close the door, or go to your greenhouse workshop, and sing properly to yourself!" Janna said mercilessly.
Stuart continued to mutter in his language.
Janna replied in the same language.
Chicago held her dad's pinky finger; Darwin immediately leaned over, getting close to Chicago's lips.
Chicago raised her hand, palm against her mouth, and whispered, "Uncle Stuart's pride is hurt... but Janna scolded him again!"
Stuart teaching Chicago to sing was a sore spot for Janna.
Following this event, there were upcoming additions to the family; hence, to ensure Stuart's recollection so that he did not dare to do such a thing next time!
Darwin's focus, obviously, wasn't on what Chicago hoped for, but...
"Chicago, can you understand these small languages?" Darwin was surprised and proud.
"A little bit." Chicago gestured with her hand, indicating a little bit, a proud expression on her pretty face.
Darwin's eyes sparkled.
It was all Darwin's admiration and joy for Chicago.
Seeing this, Chicago held up her fingers and told Darwin, "I also understand a little bit of French, Italian, and German because my mom used to live in a place in Country M where the neighbors were from these countries, and they were all super nice people, some of the wives to them were really beautiful aunties that I really liked."
Stuart was still trying to argue with Janna that he didn't think he was tone-deaf.
Chicago happily performed for Darwin, showing her language skills.
At that moment, a woman in her twenties, dressed plainly, entered the cafeteria, looked around, and then locked eyes with the Chicago family in the corner.
She hurried over.
Before she could get too close, one of the bodyguards sitting at the nearby tables stood up.
The woman paused for a moment, then realized who the person was and quickly smiled, saying, "I'm Chicago's classmate's mom; I have something to discuss with her!"
"Just a moment."
The tall and burly bodyguard walked over quickly.
By now, the woman's arrival had caught the attention of Darwin and Janna.
"Madam, she says she's Chicago's classmate's mom and wants to talk to her about something." the bodyguard informed.
Janna glanced over.
The woman was petite and gentle.
"Let her come over." Janna nodded.
The bodyguard agreed and went over to escort the woman.
As the woman approached, she seemed not to recognize Janna and probably didn't know Darwin well, either.
After a slight nod, her gaze fell on Chicago.
"Chicago, do you remember me?" The woman smiled gently, with a hint of flattery.
Chicago found her somewhat familiar.
However, she couldn't recall where she had seen her before.
Her memory was excellent, and if they had formally met, she would remember.
However, if it was just a passing familiarity, it might have been during a group activity or something.
"Are you my classmate's mom? Which classmate, may I ask?" Chicago asked politely.
"Eleanor Dashwood!" she quickly replied. "Eleanor sits three seats behind you, always with a ponytail and black-rimmed glasses. She will also be participating in the choir with you this time!"
Chicago remembered all her classmates' names.
Of course, she remembered Eleanor.
However, Eleanor was one of the few who didn't play with her.
She was either reading or doing homework every day.
There was one more thing.
During the mid-term exams, Chicago made significant progress.
Her ranking even surpassed Eleanor's.
On the day the rankings were announced, Eleanor looked at her grades for a while, then suddenly burst into tears at the table.
It hadn't been long since the mid-term exam results were released.
Chicago thought, 'she might have come to talk about this. Does she want to ask me to comfort Eleanor more?'
After all, Chicago had been given such tasks before, but it was always the teachers who approached her.
It was the first time that a parent had come.
"Is it because of the midterm exam results? Is she still feeling down?" Chicago asked.
At the mention of the midterms, the woman's expression changed slightly, and a hint of disgust appeared in her eyes. "Eleanor performed poorly in the midterms; she is useless. I clearly instructed her to check her work before handing it in, but she made so many mistakes in several subjects. If she hadn't lost those eight points, her ranking wouldn't have dropped."
Chicago was stunned.
She felt a bit awkward.
In fact, her total score in the midterms was only five points higher than Eleanor's.
"Not because of the midterms, then why did you come to me?" Chicago steered away from the midterm topic.
The woman's face immediately lit up with a smile.
"Chicago, I know you've always been the best, most caring, and most friendly classmate. You will definitely help me and Eleanor with this favor!"
Janna felt uncomfortable as soon as she heard Eleanor's name.
After hearing the woman's exaggerated praise of Chicago, all the kindness disappeared from her face.
Just as Janna was about to say something, she heard Chicago say very seriously, "Auntie, why don't you tell me what it's about first? I'm just a kid, and there are some things I can't help with."
Upon hearing this, Janna's smile returned to her face.
At home, when Chicago was praised, she would wag her tail.
Janna had been worried that after a few words of praise, Chicago would believe what others said.
However it turned out, her darling wasn't foolish at all.
