Chapter 1138

A sec later, Fiona dropped Charles off.

Just like always, a few of his camp buddies were hanging around, waiting for him.

"Charles!" Evelyn hollered, waving like crazy.

She sprinted over with Frank tagging along.

"Auntie, morning! My grandma's donuts are the bomb!" Frank said, yanking a white paper bag from his backpack and handing it to Fiona.

He added, "She made some for Charles too, packed 'em in a lunchbox!"

He showed Fiona the inside of his backpack, which contained no books but a lunchbox full of donuts.

Fiona grinned and took the donuts. "Thanks, Frank."

"No prob. Last semester, Charles helped me study, and I racked up a bunch of awards. I even bought a robot with the prize money!"

"Quit bragging about your robot. It's almost time, let's roll!" Evelyn said.

Charles glanced at Fiona.

Fiona waved. "Go on."

Charles nodded and followed the crew.

Fiona stood there, watching Charles surrounded by his friends. They all seemed to have a ton to say to him.

Even from behind, Fiona could picture Charles's helpless look.

She strolled back to the car.

Christopher was already in the driver's seat of the car behind.

Fiona hopped in the back.

There were donuts in her pocket. Frank probably thought she'd come with Darwin to drop off Charles.

She took a bite. It was crispy and delish.

The car soon smelled like a donut shop.

Christopher couldn't help but swallow in the front seat.

The donut was huge, and Fiona was stuffed after one, so she handed the other to Christopher.

He scarfed it down in no time.

"Yum, way better than the one I grabbed this morning!" he said, a bit bummed.

If they had dropped off Charles first, maybe Charlotte could've tasted the donut.

After dropping off the kids, Fiona hit the morning traffic jam on her way to Monsoon Investment.

The road was jam-packed.

A usual half-hour drive took over an hour.

When she got there, she didn't even have time for a drink and went straight to the meeting room.

The rest of the day was a marathon of meetings.

She checked her phone a few times in between.

Even during lunch, Darwin didn't hit her up.

Fiona suddenly thought of Darwin's stubborn streak from before.

She flipped her phone face down and decided to ignore it.

Since taking over the Solomon Group, Fiona had been slacking on managing Monsoon Investment.

After a day of meetings, the effects of her slacking were clear.

The original team members were now all pros at handling things on their own.

The meeting went smooth and successful.
