Chapter 105 The Truth Revealed

In the serene city, there was a woman named Jane who passed away very young, leaving behind a daughter. Jane’s mother, Carla Woods, also passed away in Serene City, and she too had a daughter. Fiona, from a young age, was puzzled by why her peers had so many relatives to visit and received numerous red envelopes during festivals, while her own family lacked any relatives. If we assume that her grandparents were Jane’s biological parents, it would explain why they had distanced themselves from their family due to their special line of work. There was also their illness, which doctors initially asked if they had been in contact with any chemicals. Countless intricate threads slowly formed a clear connection in Fiona’s mind.

Carla Woods was Jane! All those experiences that made Fiona itch with hatred as a bystander were her mother’s past. Her heart was torn apart by the pain, and anger burned fiercely. At that moment, her phone rang. Fiona was momentarily dazed but picked it up to find Darwin on the other end. Instantly, her anger transformed into grievance. She answered the call, but before she could say anything, she heard Darwin’s cold voice, “Did you see Dagmar?” Fiona’s grievances shattered instantaneously. “Darwin, I’m not in the mood to argue with you right now. I’m hanging up.” She had just finished crying, and her voice trembled uncontrollably as she spoke.

Darwin immediately sensed something was wrong, “Fiona, what’s the matter?”

“If you could find out that I saw Dagmar, then find out what’s wrong with me,” Fiona hung up and switched off her phone. She looked at the photograph of her mother, radiating youth and visible happiness. Tears streamed down her face without stopping. “Mom, don’t worry, I won’t let those who harmed you go unpunished!” Fiona gritted her teeth and vowed. Alice! Ken Ji! And Janna Rhoads! It was these people who ruined her mother, causing her to spend her last few years in despair and pain.

Fiona stayed in the house until dusk, taking the photo album with her as she left. After the paternity test, Stuart returned home, leaving three people to stay with Fiona. Fiona remained inside for the entire afternoon, causing the three of them to grow anxious. They all breathed a sigh of relief as they watched her walk out, seemingly fine.

"Miss Woods, the elderly lady is waiting for you for dinner," a servant informed Fiona.

Fiona's expression was indifferent, "I'm not feeling well; I want to rest. Please inform Mrs. Rhoads." The three of them looked at each other in confusion as Fiona walked to the end of the alley and got into a car. She returned to her hotel. Fiona didn't bother to greet Janna and went straight to her room to sleep.

Janna was somewhat worried. The bodyguard told her everything that had happened that day. Janna listened attentively. She thought to herself, Fiona must have been bothered.

Fiona hadn't slept well that night. Her dreams were filled with images of her mother crying and the grim faces of Ken and Alice. She woke up from another nightmare. There was someone beside Fiona.

"Did you have a nightmare?" Darwin had just arrived, with a cold demeanor.

Seeing Fiona wake up, he hurried over.

"You..."

Fiona was a bit dazed.

"I know everything." Darwin gently adjusted Fiona's damp hair, "I lost my temper; I'm sorry."

Fiona was exhausted.

"I'll take care of that person," Darwin said tenderly.

Fiona didn't say anything. She felt like a drifting duckweed on the vast ocean, desperately wanting to grasp something to anchor herself.

"Darwin." Fiona called out.

"I'm here."

Fiona looked at him and choked out, "Can you kiss me?"

Darwin looked at her broken-hearted appearance. His heart twisted into a knot. He quickly bent down and gave her a gentle kiss.

"Another one."

Darwin decided to give her a long, deep kiss.

"Sweet Fiona, don't be sad. From now on, I will trust you completely."

Today, he heard that Dagmar had met Fiona. He hadn't even had a chance to ask what had happened. And then he called Fiona.

Fiona listened to Darwin. Suddenly, she thought of her mother's ordeal.

"It was you who said it. If you break your promise, I don't want you anymore!" Fiona said softly.

Darwin smiled and agreed.

Probably because Darwin was there, Fiona slept soundly for the rest of the night.

When it was time to meet and review the report, Darwin didn't want Fiona to go. But Fiona felt this was regarding her family after all. It concerned her late grandparents; she had to be present.

Darwin had no choice but to accompany her.

After a simple breakfast and a change of clothes, Fiona and Darwin left together.

Janna happened to come out as well. When she saw Darwin, she paused and asked, "When did you arrive?"

"Last night," Darwin replied.

Janna glanced at Fiona.

To everyone's surprise, Fiona, without changing her expression, held Darwin's hand right in front of Janna. Their fingers tightly intertwined. Darwin was momentarily stunned.

"Grandma Rhoads, we have something to attend to; we must hurry." Fiona spoke up.

"Alright, go ahead."

Then, Fiona, leading Darwin with her, walked away.

Watching Fiona's figure, Janna Rhoads frowned slightly. She always felt like Fiona's attitude towards her had become much colder. Could it be that Solomon said something bad about her?

Once out of Janna’s sight, Fiona instinctively wanted to let go of Darwin's hand. But Darwin didn't allow it.

"What are you doing?" Darwin asked.

"Somebody..." Fiona lowered her voice, "I don't want to make headlines!"

Darwin was taken aback by her words. He was already well-behaved, dressed in casual clothes, wearing a baseball cap and a mask.

Why was she so worried?!

In the end, Darwin reluctantly let go of Fiona's hand.

Half past nine, Fiona and Darwin arrived at the paternity testing center. Joseph and his companions were already there. He got kicked very hard yesterday. Stuart was skilled at kicking people. He wouldn't break your bones, but he'd make you suffer.

"Niece, your private life is quite exciting, huh? Another man?" Joseph became bolder when he saw Fiona didn't bring those people from yesterday.

"Filthy people see filth in everything," Darwin coldly sneered. This alleged uncle made his Fiona so angry. He didn't care if this person was her uncle or not today.

"You..." Joseph immediately stood up, and the others followed suit.

"Aren't you going to look at the report?" Fiona impatiently interrupted him, "If you want to court death, I'll give you a chance after you read the report."

Joseph glared at Fiona with hatred. She was right. The most urgent matter now was to see the results!
