Chapter 982
Chicago often fell when she was little, but she always immediately got up after falling. If there was no one around and the pain was too much, she would cry and ask a servant to apply medicine. However, if there were family members around, especially Jonna and Burl, even if she wasn't hurt, she would cry in their arms.
Fiona had seen Burl more than once, holding Chicago and comforting her while stomping on the ground where Chicago had fallen as if to avenge her.
It was only after returning to Armie that Chicago seemed to grow up all of a sudden. She would get up after falling and continue playing without any complaints.
Last autumn, she didn't even notice when she scraped her knee. When she got home, Darwin saw it and was heartbroken.
He immediately wanted to call an ambulance to take Chicago to the hospital.
However, Chicago was calm.
Darwin couldn't bear to disinfect her wound, so she took the disinfecting tools and did it herself.
After disinfecting her wound, she even said to Darwin, "I'm super brave!"
"She can't be comforted unless she lets out her grievances. I can't let her just keep the grievances to herself! Alright, I'll handle this myself!" Janna then hung up and called Chicago.
When Fiona passed by Chicago's door, she heard Chicago sweetly calling Janna. Janna's voice was particularly doting,
Fiona's face was full of smiles.
Just as she was about to return to the master bedroom, she suddenly thought of something and looked back at the doghouse.
Jessie had done a great job today and had been fed too much. Now, it was a bit overstuffed and lay in the doghouse, looking like it was about to fall asleep.
Fiona turned back.
Hearing footsteps, Jessie lifted its eyelids, and Fiona could vaguely see it wagging its tail in the doghouse.
"Usually, you sleep soundly when you're full. What's wrong today?" Fiona squatted in front of Jessie and gently scratched its chin.
Fiona's intuition told her that Jessie seemed afraid to sleep.
"Are you worried about Chicago?" Fiona asked gently.
Jessie whimpered, then placed its chin in Fiona's palm, looking at her pitifully.
"How about this? I'll allow you to sleep in Chicago's room tonight, but you can't jump on the bed or the sofa. I'll put a soft cushion at the door for you, okay?" Fiona said, not knowing if Jessie understood.
Jessie rubbed against Fiona's palm a few times.
"I also contacted Bob and Slin. They've been traveling around the world for over a year now and wanted to come back for a while. When we return from North Alabama, you'll be able to see them," Fiona continued.
Hearing Fiona mention Bob and Slin, Jessie immediately reacted strongly.
She came out of the doghouse directly.
Wagging her tail, it circled Fiona.
Then it sat beside her and leaned against Fiona like a child acting cute. Its reaction amused Fiona.
Fiona gave her a good massage on Jessie's neck, which it thoroughly enjoyed.
Darwin stood by the window of the bedroom study, watching the scene in front of the doghouse.
He heard the slow, dripping sound of water from somewhere. It seemed to come from within his body, or perhaps from a distant, hazy place.
