Chapter 1392

Rose was feeling way more at ease.

She couldn't stand Charlotte's icy, piercing gaze that seemed to see right through her.

And Christopher? He was always on edge around Rose.

She hated when people were suspicious of her.

Monday rolled around.

Early in the morning, Rose got up and noticed the owners of Emerald Pool were nowhere to be seen.

Just a couple of unfamiliar maids busy cleaning.

The place was already spotless, not a speck of dust in sight.

But the maids said, "Mr. Solomon likes everything to be extra clean, so we always tidy up a bit more."

Rose didn't say anything.

She checked the time.

Fiona hadn't given her a day off, so she still had to head to work at the Solomon Group.

After leaving Emerald Pool, she checked the time again.

She had no clue when Darwin's flight was, as Fiona had arranged a private jet.

At the office, Rose was feeling pretty off.

She kept checking the time, occasionally scrolling through Fiona or Thalassa's social media.

Around eleven in the morning, her backup phone buzzed.

Rose quickly grabbed her phone and headed to the restroom.

She opened it to find two messages from Leto: [Replacement complete.] [Looking forward to seeing you soon.]

Rose's heart raced as she read the messages.

She clutched her chest, unable to hide the smile on her face.

She checked again and saw that the self-defense tools she had ordered were out for delivery. Taking a deep breath, Rose felt a wave of relief.

She returned to her desk in a much better mood.

At six in the evening, Rose finished work and headed back to Emerald Pool.

The place was brightly lit, especially the floor of Fiona and Darwin's bedroom. Usually, when Fiona was alone, she only kept a small light on, but today, all the lights were on.

Before going upstairs, Rose took out her phone and called Leto.

The call went through, but no one answered.

Leto's work as a pharmacist often kept him busy, so Rose didn't think much of it.

She sent Leto a message: [Call me back when you're free.]

Just as she was about to go upstairs, Hubert called.

Rose thought for a moment and answered, "What's up?"

Hubert said, "Nothing much. Just wanted to ask about your plans for New Year's. Weren't you planning to go to the Red Sea for a vacation? I..."

"I've already arranged with Fiona and the others to spend New Year's with the Walker family in North Alabama. Sorry, I can't join you," Rose said, pausing for a moment. "Hubert, you need to start living your own life."

The implication was clear.

Rose thought, 'I have my own life now, Hubert, and you should have yours too.'

Hubert was silent for a moment.

If Rose had been more attentive, she might have noticed that something was different about Hubert today.

But her mind was elsewhere.

Sensing Hubert's silence, she grew impatient. "Alright, I have things to do, so I'm hanging up."

She didn't give Hubert a chance to speak.

Rose hung up and promptly added Hubert's number to her blocked list.

The next to suffer wouldn't just be that person, but Hubert as well.

This was the price he paid for sticking with Rose and exiling her to Armie!
