Chapter 47 The One Who Keeps Her

"Fiona!" Dagwood jumped up, looking all kinds of freaked out as he rushed forward.

Darwin's bodyguards were on it, too, sprinting over.

Without a word, they blocked Dagwood's way.

Darwin shot him a cold glare.

Just a bit ago in the car, he got a bunch of videos.

Fiona was with Dagwood, laughing like she didn't have a care in the world. She even bought him ice cream.

Darwin's hand was glued to Fiona's waist, pulling her close.

He leaned in, almost kissing her hair, but whispered in her ear, "Fiona, you want him dead?"

A shiver ran up Fiona's spine. "Dagwood, I'm good. This is my... my boss. You should head back."

When she said "boss," Darwin's grip on her waist got tighter.

Dagwood's eyes flicked to Darwin's hand.

He looked worried and pissed.

But it still hurt Fiona.

What kind of boss holds his female employee's waist like that in public?

Standing next to Darwin, she felt a wave of humiliation she'd never felt before.

"Is it him?" Dagwood's voice was tight.

Was he the dad of that kid?

Fiona didn't look like she loved him at all, just fear and shame.

So how did this kid happen?

Something snapped in Dagwood's mind.

He remembered Fiona from years ago, laughing in an alley.

Anger and guilt almost drowned him.

He cursed and swung a punch at Darwin.

With bodyguards around, he didn't stand a chance.

Darwin's bodyguards were ex-mercenaries.

No matter how good Dagwood was at fighting, he couldn't take on four mercenaries.

Fiona knew the bodyguards wouldn't listen to her.

She looked at Darwin, gritting her teeth. "Darwin, I've been with you for so long and never wronged you. Dagwood's like my brother. Don't hurt him! Don't make me hate you!"

Darwin glanced at her, her eyes filled with anxious tears.

His gaze got even colder, but he said, "Stop."

The bodyguards stopped.

But Dagwood still wanted to lunge forward.

Two bodyguards held him back.

"Let him go. I'll talk to him for a bit, then I'll go with you." Fiona knew exactly what Darwin wanted.

She didn't want to go with Darwin, but she couldn't drag Dagwood into it.

Darwin glanced at her and let go.

Fiona hurried to Dagwood.

She was so anxious she almost tripped.

Darwin's face was stormy.

Standing in front of the bodyguards, Fiona shouted, "Let him go!"

These bodyguards had been with Darwin for a while and had often gotten favors from her.

They reluctantly let go.

"Fiona." Dagwood grabbed her hand tightly.

"Don't worry, he won't hurt me." Fiona couldn't look Dagwood in the eyes.

Dagwood's eyes were red.

"Go back. I can handle this," Fiona said softly.

Dagwood's face was full of pain.

Fiona had nothing more to say.

She broke free from Dagwood's hand, stood up silently, and walked towards Darwin.

It was weird how the once sunny and warm weather had turned cloudy without anyone noticing.

Fiona didn't go back to Darwin's side.

She kept her face cold, not even glancing at him, and walked straight to Darwin's car.

Darwin was fuming at her silent defiance. Looking at Dagwood, thinking about their reluctance to part, he suddenly thought of Rupert.

Back then, when Rupert found Fiona, he also wanted to fight him to the death.

A mocking, cold smile crept onto Darwin's face. "Dagwood, right?"

Fiona's steps suddenly halted.

"Do you think I forced her?" Darwin asked.

Fiona's body instantly stiffened.

Darwin glanced at her.

Then, he smirked. "You're wrong. I bought her with money. Strictly speaking, I'm not her boss, but her sugar daddy."

In an instant, something seemed to break inside Fiona.

Rupert's angry, disdainful, twisted face reappeared.

"Impossible! You forced her!" Dagwood roared, "Fiona!"

Fiona didn't turn back, didn't explain.

In her heart, Dagwood was always the one who pampered her.

She didn't want to keep Dagwood's twisted and hateful face in her mind.

Thinking about it, she realized she had a bit of a crush on Rupert back then, probably because his demeanor was similar to Dagwood's.

The driver stood by the door.

"Ms. Woods," he greeted respectfully and then opened the car door.

Fiona bent down and got into the car.

Inside, it was filled with Darwin's scent.

Her stomach started to churn again.

Moments later, Darwin, full of coldness, also got into the car.

After the car started, he reached out, grabbed her left hand, and pulled it in front of him.

The wound on Fiona's hand had already been stitched up, but it left an unsightly scar.

"Where did you get hurt?" Darwin asked.

His tone was quite gentle, as if he hadn't just done something terrible to Fiona.

Fiona finally looked up at him.

His once smiling, beautiful eyes now looked cold and emotionless.

"Are you happy now?" she asked.

Darwin was very dissatisfied with her attitude.

He grabbed her chin, finally showing some impatience.

"Fiona, first it was Harold, now Dagwood. My patience with you is at its limit. What do you want?" he asked in a low voice.

"What do I want?" Fiona seemed to hear a big joke, lowered her eyes, and laughed silently.

Darwin looked at her, feeling a sudden panic.

Then, Fiona said, "Oh, it was so chaotic just now, Mr. Solomon, I forgot to congratulate you."

Darwin's heart trembled.

Then Fiona looked at him.

With a face full of provocation, she said, "Congratulations on your engagement."

"Are you angry?" Darwin asked.

He seemed to be hoping that Fiona was angry because of his engagement, which would mean she still cared about him.

But Fiona shook her head. "I just feel disgusted."

Darwin's hand froze.

"Disgusted, huh?" he asked through gritted teeth.

"Yes!" Fiona answered without hesitation, "You said your patience is at its limit? For the past few years, my patience has also been at its limit! Darwin, you're a complete bastard. No wonder Lilian didn't want you back then."

She was completely fed up.

He never saw her as a human being.

When Darwin got really angry, he would become emotionless.

He looked at Fiona, completely dropping his facade, and kissed her.
