Chapter 499 Trophy Husband
This certainly caught the work-immersed adults off guard,
especially the parents of the two math-loving children.
Their kids were so skilled they had been placed in the gifted program.
They'’d learned that this boy was even two years younger than their own.
"Frank, don't be silly. He's younger by two years; he's your little brother,!" the child's mother hurried to say.
"Then little brother, can you come over to our tent tonight?" Frank Cruz asked with a choked voice, evidently desperate.
"No," Charles declined bluntly, before writing a series of numbers on Frank’s Cruz's tablet. "This is my WhatsApp number. If you really can't figure out a problem, you can message me. But not until a month from now; I'm busy lately."
With that,
Charles turned to Fiona. : "Mommy, let's go."
"Say goodnight to the uncles and aunts," Fiona gently reminded.
"“Goodnight, everyone,"“
he said respectfully.
"Off you go. The kids are exhausted..."
Several families watched as the family of four departed.
Frank’s Cruz's mother immediately asked him, "Is that little guy really that amazing?"
"Absolutely!" Frank Cruz was very excited. "He finished the problems even our teacher couldn't solve in no time and came up with some great approaches! We've learned a lot tonight!"
Another girl, Evelyn, nodded in agreement.: "Frank, send me your WhatsApp too. I’’ve been stuck on that problem on the blackboard for half a year with no clue. I’’ve got to ask Mr. Charles for help!"
The parents of these two kids had met through their children.
Frank Cruz and Evelyn were both top students in their class, usually prideful and dismissive of others, so it was saying something for them both to hold someone in such high regard.
Both sets of parents were stunned.
"One thing's for sure, we might have really come across someone formidable this time. That kid from ChicagoChicago has such high emotional intelligence, even we adults feel humbled,!" a parent marveled. "And her sensitivity to color is off the charts—this afternoon, I overheard her describing the nuance of diluted colors with astonishing precision. I asked her dad about it, and he said she's into painting, which explains her keen eye for color. With that level of sensitivity, she must be an incredible artist.!"
The speaking parent's family was in the paint business.
They knew a lot about the subject.
"Their parents are no ordinary folks. The mother The mom from Chicago seems like there isn't anything she doesn’’t understand. She doesn't talk much, but every time she speaks, she hits the nail on the head! And when she speaks, she never offends anyone."
Everyone agreed.
"It’’s just the dadhe dad from Chicago who doesn't seem to stand out, except for being good-looking. He’’s not as impressive as his wife," Bobby's dad huffed.
Bobby had been saying he wanted to trade dads that afternoon.
He sure remembered grievances.!
"The dad from Chicago...dad I feel like he looks familiar, like I've seen him somewhere before," a lawyer mother mused, chin in hand.
Bobby's dad speculated, "Maybe he was an actor before marrying the mom? from Chicago? The kind that never made it big?"
Bobby's mom nudged him with her foot.: "Are you just jealous because our son wants a new dad and you’’re taking it out on that handsome man?"
Frank’s Cruz’s mom mother mumbled, "Originally, their family had the entire observation deck to themselves, preventing us from getting a great view. I was quite annoyed with them. I just hope they didn’’t pick up on my initial dislike..."
"Mom, really?" Frank Cruz responded with shock. "If the big shot ignores me because of that, I'll stop loving you!"
"You little rascal!!"
The lawyer mom continued to ponder where she might have seen the dad from ChicagoDarwin before. It wasn’’t from any TV show. She vaguely recalled it must have been some significant event...
Meanwhile, the sleeping Chicago .
The sleepy Chicago was slung over Darwin's shoulder.
Charles was holding Fiona's hand.
Fiona kept offering to carry her, but repeatedly declined by Darwin..
"You had a great chat with the kids, huh? It's the first time I've seen you give out your contact information," Fiona said softly.
"The kid's smart," Charles honestly replied.
Though not as smart as him.
But However, Charles was well aware that a kid like him was an anomaly; children like Frank Cruz and Evelyn were already exceptional among their peers.
It was effortless to communicate with them, even more so than with some adults.
"If you want to see your friends later, just let us know, and we'll arrange it, okay?" Fiona was pleased that Charles could have friends of his age around.
"Yeah, and when we move to the new house, you can invite your friends over,!" chimed in Darwin.Darwin chimed in.
Charles had never done anything like that before.
He shook his head indifferently., "We'll see when the time comes."
Who knows if they would still be in touch a month later.
Back at the campsite, ...
Fiona and Darwin cleaned Charles's and Chicago's faces and limbs with wet wipes.
Charles quickly fell asleep.
Fiona stepped out of the tent, feeling exhausted.
"We should arrange more of these activities in the future," Fiona said as she sat down next to Darwin.
"Are you complimenting me?" Darwin asked with a grin.
Fiona glanced at him., "Yeah, I'm complimenting you."
Darwin was even more delighted., "Shall we continue with dinner? Should I light the fire?"
"No, let's not. I'm quite tired too.," Fiona stretched her shoulders.
Seeing her discomfort, Darwin got up and began to massage her shoulders.
Fiona immediately smiled. , "Has our luck turned around?"
"Right?" Darwin responded candidly., "From now on, I'm Mrs. Fiona's little assistant. If there's anything I don't do well, just let me know, and I'll change it right away."
"Don't teach Chicago any nonsense," Fiona spoke deliberately.
"I haven't taught anything wrong.!" Darwin defended himself.
"Mr. SolomonMr. Darwin, you know what I mean.~" Darwin's hands were large, and with just the right pressure, he eased her entire body, making Fiona involuntarily close her eyes.
Her tone relaxed considerably.
"Mr. SolomonI don’t doesn't understand.~" Darwin mimicked her relaxed tone.
Fiona fell silent.
Shaking her head, she conceded, "Alright, do as you please."
After a while, ...
tThe two returned to the tent.
Fiona was already drowsy from the massage Darwin had given her.
She lay down and soon fell asleep.
Darwin was wide awake.
He was too happy today.
Wherever he went, he had always been Mr. SolomonDarwin of the Solomon..
Today, in the eyes of others, he was Fiona's husband, the father of Chicago and Charles. Beyond that, there was nothing more.
Darwin was still sleeping next to Fiona. She was his greatest placebo. Just by being near her, it seemed all trouble would dissipate. Darwin wrapped his arms around her, planting a deep kiss on her.
"Goodnight, wifedear., I love you," he softly said and, content, and fell into a deep sleep with Fiona in his embrace.
Meanwhile, in another place, inside a tent, a lawyer mom who had lain down for a bit suddenly sat up.
"I remember now!!" she exclaimed.
Her husband woke up startled., "What is it? What's up, honey?"
"The father of Chicago!dad! It's He’s Darwin, the CEO of Solomon!!!" "
