Chapter 513 Knocking on Their Door
The piece of paper with Justin's address was lying on a stone not too far away.
"Let's clean up at a motel and then settle the score with that old turtle Justin!"
"No, we have to see Maria first," Brad's wife said fiercely. "That witch lied to us last time. Thalassa probably cut ties with her long ago!"
"Absolutely, we've got to get even with her!"
The Shaw family checked into a motel, took refreshing showers, and changed into clothes they had picked up from a nearby market. Then they stormed off to confront Maria.
However, when they got there, the doorbell was practically broken from their ringing, yet no one answered the door.
They headed off to find Justin after leaving with no choice.
Lo and behold, they found both Justin and Maria.
However, the scene was rather explosive.
Lately, Maria had been puzzling over how to save her marriage.
In desperation, she had learned a trick online.
Which was to show up unannounced and catch the other woman in the act, preferably getting it on video.
That way, she'd have a bargaining chip during the divorce to get her hands on more money and, with any luck, the video might just cut the other woman down to size.
When the Shaw family arrived, Maria's squad was pinning down a scantily clad woman on the floor.
Justin, blocked by Maria, was furious, his eyes bulging with rage.
A heavy slap landed squarely on Maria's face.
"You crazy woman! Take your people and get the hell out!"
Maria staggered, her ears ringing so much that she couldn't react.
Justin seized the opportunity to stride forward, pointing at the men who were photographing his mistress. "I've already called the cops! Let her go and get out, or I swear you'll end up behind bars!"
The men looked at each other, unease in their eyes.
They finally let go.
Justin immediately went to comfort the sobbing woman in his arms, whispering words of comfort.
"Maria, we've got all the shots we need. A man like this, you can't keep him around—look how he treats his mistress and yet he raised his hand to you," The photographer said, filled with contempt.
Maria looked at Justin, her eyes brimming with confusion.
"What exactly did I do wrong?" Maria asked him through tears. "I've always placed you first, pouring my whole heart into helping you whenever you faced troubles. Why?"
"I told you to get lost," Justin retorted with eyes full of disgust.
"Hey!"
The Shaw siblings had finished watching the drama unfold.
They also stepped forward.
Both Justin and Maria were taken aback.
"How did you..." Maria started, utterly bewildered.
"Maria, you're pretty cold-hearted. Keeping it a secret that Thalassa married somebody important. You nearly got us all killed," Brad said, turning his gaze to Justin. "And you, Justin, are even worse. Flushing money down the drain on women but not settling the bills with us, and then sending us to Thalassa to nearly get ourselves killed. You always appeared to be kind and compassionate, so how can your heart be so vile?"
"What are you talking about? When did Thalassa marry someone important?" Maria asked, clueless.
"Don't play dumb," Brad's wife snapped. "You two owe us money and not only have you not paid up, but you also got us locked up for seven days and nearly buried alive. Today, you're going to settle up and compensate us a hundred thousand each for emotional distress!"
"Brad, are you turning against me?" Justin asked in a deep voice.
To him, these poor relatives still wanted to cling on to him.
For this reason, despite the prolonged outstanding debts, they had never summoned the courage to confront him.
"Yes, we are turning against you!" Brad roared.
The situation was critical. They knew they were in grave danger, and any delay could have been fatal.
"Cut the crap and pay up," Brad's wife demanded. "If you don't pay today, we're going out to print these pictures of both of you. Hey, we'll parade them on the streets, shouting about how you owe money and tried to take our lives!"
Justin was a man who valued his reputation, something Brad was well aware of.
"Besides, we've got contact information for your relatives on the Shaw family's side. I know where all your folks back in your hometown live. If you don't clear the debt today, I'll make sure everyone hears about what you've done," Brad's wife continued, arms crossed. "Oh, and let's not forget about Justin's mistress and Maria showing up only to be slapped in return. We'll make sure to spread that juicy tidbit!"
"Don't do this!" Maria exclaimed, startled.
Justin's face turned stone-cold.
"Maria, is this the outcome you wanted?" Justin looked straight at Maria.
Maria hurriedly clarified, "It wasn't me who brought them here!"
"If not you, then who else? How did these bumpkins find out I was here?" Justin raged.
The bumpkins rolled their eyes in unison.
"If you want to argue, take it home and do it slowly. But right now! Pay up," Mrs. Shaw said with impatience.
Justin looked at the greedy, clueless faces before him, tempted to resist, then suddenly showed weakness.
"Thalassa clearly gave over seven million, why won't you even give a dime? Maybe try again, and don't be hasty, be gentler, this kid doesn't respond to force."
Maria observed Justin and thought to herself, ‘Was he really planning on using Thalassa as a cash machine?’
"Cut the crap, you're making someone else's family from Chicago pay your debts, have you no shame?" Mrs. Shaw spat disdainfully. "I heard you even spent the few million left by someone's father after he passed away? You've banked several hundred million thanks to Thalassa over the years, how can you be so heartless, and still prey on someone else's daughter?"
Justin's face was metaphorically slapped hard several times. He turned to Maria, furious, as if asking, ‘Was it you who spilled the beans?’
"But today's situation was caused by Thalassa!" Justin roared.
That's when, Maria asked coldly, "How did she cause it?"
Justin was taken aback.
"Go on, tell me how she caused it!" Maria shouted, "They're right, you made so much money off of Thalassa, but I didn't see you praising her, just gloating about how awesome you are, landing contracts with such amazing companies! And what now? These companies were only working with you because of Thalassa, and as soon as you fall out with her, even at a loss, they're ready to cancel their contracts with you! And now you say it's all her doing?"
"Maria, do you even realize what you're saying?" Justin said with a menacing tone.
"I do!" Maria glared back fiercely. "I'm exposing your hypocritical facade. You're nothing but an incompetent, immoral, and corrupt man!"
"Slut!"
Justin no longer cared about the delicate woman in his arms. He surged forward, ready to hit Maria.
The Shaw family watched gleefully from the sidelines.
However, the few people hired by Maria were quite responsible.
Immediately they formed a line, protecting Maria.
