Chapter 623 The Invitation Card

As the dawn's light filtered through the curtains, Chicago stirred from her slumber, greeted by the vibrant hues of two bunches of sunflowers adorning her room. Their presence filled her with an uncontainable joy, setting a cheerful tone for the day that lay ahead.

With excitement bubbling within her, Chicago wasted no time. She swiftly changed into the clothes she had laid out the night before and descended the stairs, eager to start the day.

"Did you wake up on your own?" Fiona's voice greeted her as she entered the kitchen, where her mother was busy preparing breakfast.

Bounding toward Fiona, Chicago enveloped her in a tight embrace. "Mommy, I love the sunflowers! Thank you!" she exclaimed with unabashed enthusiasm.

Fiona smiled warmly, her gaze shifting towards Darwin. "It's not just Mommy who gave them to you," she remarked, a playful glint in her eye.

Chicago darted towards Darwin, excitement radiating from her. As she embraced him, she deftly slipped something into his collar.

"What's this?" Darwin's voice held a hint of confusion as he glanced down at the unexpected item.

Chuckling, Chicago pulled away from his embrace. "I don't know!" she admitted, giggling mischievously. "Uncle Stuart, will you braid my hair?" she called out before disappearing in a whirlwind of excitement.

Meanwhile, Fiona's curiosity was piqued as she approached Darwin, a questioning look in her eyes.

In that moment, Darwin felt a surge of pride wash over him. Retrieving something from his collar, he exchanged a meaningful glance with Fiona.

"It's an invitation to an art exhibition," Fiona announced, her voice tinged with excitement as she admired the personalized invitation bearing a hand-drawn painting by Chicago herself.

As memories flooded back, Darwin's eyes glistened with unshed tears. "Janna promised me an invitation when Chicago held her own exhibition," he recalled, his voice filled with emotion.

Fiona's arm slipped around Darwin's waist, a tender smile gracing her lips. "Chicago has such a flair for ceremony," she remarked, her gaze softening as she looked at him. "You're happy, aren't you?"

Without hesitation, Darwin nodded, pressing a gentle kiss to Fiona's forehead. "Thank you, darling, for everything you've given me," he murmured.

Fiona's laughter rang out lightly, a melodic sound that filled the room with warmth.

Meanwhile, Charles, their son, made his entrance into the dining room, dressed impeccably for the day's events.

"Son, he looks absolutely dashing!" Fiona exclaimed, her admiration evident as she reached out to Charles.

Approaching slowly, Charles took Fiona's hand. "Good morning, Mommy," he greeted softly, his gaze drifting briefly towards Darwin. "Good morning," he added, his words a silent acknowledgment of their shared moment.

Charles didn't know why. It wasn't like he was still mad at him.

To be honest, Darwin had been behaving exceptionally well lately, showing great care and love for Fiona.

Perhaps Charles was starting to like Darwin.

Charles had discussed this with Chicago. Chicago could call him "Daddy," but he failed to speak the word out.

The word "Daddy" was like super glue. Whenever Charles wanted to say it, his lips would stick together.

"Good morning." Darwin patted Charles's head as if he could see through Charles's thoughts. "Don't rush, we still have plenty of time. Let's take it slow."

Charles replied with a nod.

Then, he let go of Fiona's hand and went to the table to have breakfast.

"Daddy is in a good mood now." Fiona lightly tapped Darwin's shoulder with her shoulder.

"I've come to realize that I can't expect the child to adjust in just a few months after being absent for so many years," Darwin whispered.

Fiona, although aware of Darwin's significant changes, still felt amazed when hearing such words from Darwin.

‘Where is Mr. Solomon who used to be so self-centered?’ she thought.

The family had breakfast together and then the four of them set off for the art exhibition. All the paintings from last night had been hung up, including "Birch Forest," "God," and the painting Chicago gave to Darwin, the one featuring the four of them, which was placed in the center.

At nine in the morning, the art exhibition officially began and visitors started to enter. Majority were parents with their children, though there were also a few older people. Some innovative artists from China also came, and the designer who had previously customized soft furnishings for Chicago and Charles brought his family to support them as well.

When the designer's wife saw Chicago, her eyes was filled with excitement as she exclaimed, "Darling, I love the painting you gave me so much!" Chicago gracefully replied, "It's my honor to bring joy to you, Miss!"

Fiona and Darwin did not intervene in Chicago's interactions with the visitors at the art exhibition. They simply stood in the corner, watching silently. Of course, the people who were able to approach Chicago and talk to her were carefully checked by the bodyguards to ensure there was no risk of harm to Chicago.

Ever since the incident with Lilian, the level of security around Chicago has greatly increased.

At the end of the first day of the art exhibition, several innovative artists updated their social media platforms with photos and videos of today's exhibition.

One of them posted a video of the exhibition on a short video platform. When people in the comment section found out that this artist, with such a distinctive painting style, was only five or six years old, they were surprised..

[What's happening recently? Are all the kids suddenly awakening? Just a few days ago, there was a five or six-year-old IT genius and now we have a painting genius?]

[I have to correct this. He’s an IT and math genius.]

[You guys are making a big fuss. She already gained some fame as a young artist last year. Show us the 'Butterfly' she photographed at an exhibition in Paris last year and let us appreciate the top-notch aesthetics!]

[What's so top-notch about the 'Butterfly'? Come and see 'God'!]

[I know 'God'. It was auctioned off in China earlier this year and Darwin bought it for millions!]

[Why does Mr. Solomon show up every time we gossip about a genius? He's everywhere!]

[Was it auctioned off? But I saw it at the exhibition.] A netizen who went to the art exhibition today posted a photo of the painting 'God'.]

In response, the other user replied, [It was Mr. Solomon who took it away, along with the same artist's 'Birch Forest'.]

Internet users who attended the art exhibition laughed. [But 'Birch Forest' was also exhibited.]

At the same time, a corresponding image was posted.

[I don't know about that, but it was taken away by him at that time. There were many people at the scene. Oh, by the way, he went with Lilian that day,] he replied.

[The fool upstairs is defaming Darwin. Be careful, he might come knocking on your door to sue you!]

It was about to become heated here.

An Internet celebrity posted a rolling eyes emoji on Facebook, saying, [Speechless, it's starting to escalate again. Darwin is the genius’s biological father. Is there any problem with him buying a painting and bringing it back for exhibition?"

The Facebook post was sent out.

The comment section became uneasy again.

[Please, please, don't randomly identify children’s fathers, can we do that?]

[What course of action should I take? Am I losing my mind? It's undeniably absurd, but given the convoluted events in Darwin and his wife's lives, I can't shake the feeling that Darwin might actually be her biological father!]

[They've only got two kids, correct?]

[Indeed, just two. One's an engineer, and the other's a remarkably talented painter. Does that raise any concerns?]

[I sincerely hope this isn't the case; otherwise, it'll devastate me. Humans are diverse, yes, but I can't fathom such a staggering revelation!]
