Chapter 1242
"That night, I was so close. Just a little more and I could've strangled her. Once she's dead, all your pain will disappear!" Hearing this, Darwin was shocked.
He went nuts, trying to get out of bed.
But his body was strapped down to the hospital bed.
He struggled like crazy, his eyes bloodshot as he glared at the person across from him, screaming and cursing, "I won't let you get away with this. I'll kill you myself! Even if it means dying with you, I won't let you hurt my wife!"
His screams were raw and desperate.
The office wasn't far from the ward.
But the soundproofing was so good, Fiona didn't hear a thing.
She was heartbroken, barely able to breathe, watching Darwin struggle and the bed frame clashing against the floor and walls, making a piercing noise.
"Do everything you can to keep him from getting hurt," Fiona told Hubert.
Technically, the day Hubert first met Darwin was also the first day he met Fiona.
Brooke had accepted the genetic defect, but she was always a bit hesitant about letting Hubert meet Darwin so soon.
Hubert, on the other hand, was super curious about Darwin.
That year, he won a big award.
Janna was thrilled, and they planned to celebrate Hubert's birthday after he finished his work.

Hubert was worried, so he flew back to check on her.

She was holding a business card, pacing back and forth on the first floor of the Solomon Group building.
It was evening when Darwin showed up, surrounded by people.
The girl hesitated, looked at her phone's lock screen, then seemed to make up her mind and walked towards Darwin.
Darwin was all high and mighty.
He glanced at her once, then left his assistant to handle the girl, striding away himself.
That heartless demeanor was totally different from the current lovesick madness.
Later, when Hubert saw Fiona again, she was already a somewhat inexperienced secretary by Darwin's side.
Later still, the inexperienced secretary became gentle but made Hubert feel she had an incredibly strong inner strength.
When Hubert had dinner with Brooke, she also mentioned Fiona, "She's great, very strong inside. Yesterday, I even saw bruises on her wrist. Hubert, is he having another episode?"
