Chapter 808 Don't Fall in Love, Just Get Married

Stella had it all figured out.

She was willing to set aside some pride and persistence to end the tug-of-war with Wyatt that had lasted for over a decade in pursuit of a perfect outcome.

But reality turned out to be disappointing.

Stella had been out for half a month, and Wyatt found a way to contact her.

She had never blocked his path. But Wyatt didn't...

As always, he was waiting for her to return as if nothing had happened.

"How about reconsidering our marriage?" Alexander's following words were like a depth charge, silent yet immensely powerful.

Stella looked at Alexander in shock.

"Ms. White is smart and clear-headed. You know better than anyone else that Mr. Wyatt is not the right partner for you," Alexander said bluntly.

"If he's not the right partner for me, then are you?" Stella, feeling inexplicably irritated, stood up abruptly. "And even if I were to give up on Wyatt, why should I consider marriage with you? Am I unable to live without a man?"

With that said, she grabbed the book on the table between them and stormed off in anger.

The next day, Stella stayed hidden in her room.

But Alexander had the servers deliver her favorite foods for all three meals.

And so it went on for two days, Preston arrived.

"Ms. White, do you know your reputation isn't good?" Preston began mocking as soon as he saw Stella crossing his arms. "But do you know what kind of person my uncle is? He has been in the church since he was three years old, and by the time you lost faith, he was already a well-respected priest! Over the years, despite the arranged matches at home, Alexander never even glanced at them. He knew where your heart belonged and never allowed anyone to disturb you! Ten years, you chased after Wyatt for ten years, and Uncle Alexander waited for you for ten years! My child can even run now."

Preston's voice grew softer and softer.

Stella, with her sharp tongue, stood there in silence.

Preston was prepared to have a big argument with Stella, but she remained silent.

This unexpected reaction made Preston nervous.

"What... what are you doing?" he asked.

"My reputation is being tarnished by rumors spread by my family, who don't want me recognized by my father. I haven't done anything with those men," Stella explained.

All the grievances Stella had accumulated over the years poured out like a flood, unprecedentedly crashing down on her.

"No one believes me. Everyone can use these rumors to slander me!" Stella shouted.

Even Wyatt believed them.

"Alexander is too pure. I'm not worthy of him. Rest assured, I will disembark at the next port, and we won't have a chance to meet again. Are you satisfied now?" Stella looked at the bewildered Preston and slammed the door shut.

Stella admitted that this half month was one of the few relaxing times in her life.

Sometimes, she really couldn't understand.

Clearly, it was the men who coveted her, so why were they ultimately blamed?

On that day, Stella hung a "Don't Disturb" sign on her door and refused Alexander's advances.

By morning, the cruise ship would dock at the next port.

Stella packed her bags, ready to end the trip early and finally put an end to the decade-long relationship with Wyatt.

Late at night, the deck was deserted.

Stella looked at the starry sky and the moon, grabbed half a bottle of wine, left her room, and went to the deck alone.

As soon as she sat down, someone approached her.

Without looking up, she knew who it was. It was Alexander.

"What are you doing here?" Stella didn't look at him, her warmth from before gone, replaced by coldness.

Alexander furrowed his brows slightly and squatted in front of her. "Preston said you're getting off at the next port?"

"Yes," Stella replied coldly. She didn't want to say any extra words.

"After you get off, where are you going?" Alexander continued.

"Alexander, what does it have to do with you?" She still didn't look at Alexander. "I want to be alone. Can't you go somewhere else?"

"Are you going to find Wyatt?" Alexander's handsome brows furrowed, and he tightened his grip on the armrest of the deck chair.

"Do you also think that without a man, I can't make it?" Stella finally looked at Alexander.

Alexander's eyes were clear.

He was taken aback for a moment, then furrowed his brows. "So, are you angry these days because of this? Do you think I care about the rumors outside?"

"Don't you care?" Stella's tone was mocking. "You don't care, so why did Preston come to scold me? What do you mean by waiting for me for ten years? Did I know? Did I know you existed? He came up and said my reputation was bad. Your reputation is good; you're noble. Wouldn't it be better if I stayed away from you?"

Alexander's face paled.

He looked visibly angry, saying, "Stella, can you talk to me properly?"

"No!" she said without hesitation.

He took a few deep breaths, then looked at her seriously. "Stella, if you want to prove who loves you, who won't leave you, it's not by constantly pushing them away! I don't need you to push me away, and I don't need you to leave and then come back again!"

Stella was struck in her heart by his words. She looked at him, and tears slowly welled up in her eyes.

He furrowed his brows again and raised his hand, his large palm gently resting on her cheek. "I'm not noble at all..."

Stella was taken aback.

"I just pulled you out of the pool. I just hugged your body, just touched your lips and tongue... even in front of God, even facing doctrine, my mind is filled with intrusive thoughts about you." Such words, even coming from the articulate Alexander, deeply shook Stella.

"What... what are you saying?" Stella asked.

Alexander helplessly smiled and said, "Every word is sincere."

Stella bit her lip. "My reputation is really bad, you..."

"I don't care." Alexander shook his head. "Ms. White, why not let go of all this and have an open conversation about love? Perhaps you will find that a healthy relationship between a man and a woman can make your life very comfortable and pleasant."

Stella glanced at Alexander. Then she looked away.

"But I don't want to fall in love." Stella then made up her mind and thought, what's the best way to deter a man who wanted to play around?

She replied, "I want to get married."

Alexander was taken aback, "Married?"

Seeing his reaction, bitter words surged in Stella's heart, as expected...

"Don't you want to get to know me better? What if I look okay on the surface but turn out to be a villain?" Alexander said.

Stella had already made up her mind.

Alexander just wanted to play with her.

So Stella said firmly, "I've had enough of love with Wyatt. I just want to get married." "
