Chapter 677 Hold Xavier Accountable For The Loss Of Mr. Solomon
Charlotte looked silently at Chicago.
Chicago's emotional intelligence was sometimes really high, but her reflex arc was truly unique.
Anyone who saw her brother and her mother's current situation would not think it was just because her brother didn't want to learn how to fight.
But this was actually fine.
Understanding things too clearly would easily lead to hurt and sorrow.
This was something Charlotte learned from Xavier yesterday.
After the lively Christmas dinner, the fireworks outside were prepared.
The fireworks were specially designed by Darwin.
The magnificent fireworks bloomed in the night sky.
There were small animals that Chicago liked, and later, there were the mathematical symbols that Charles wished for.
When Chicago saw the mathematical symbols, she was even more excited than when she saw the small animals. She grabbed Charles' arm and almost jumped up. "Brother, look, they are the things from your book! Wow, it's amazing!"
Charles looked up.
The blue fireworks were splendid and mysterious. After lingering briefly in the night sky, those mathematical symbols quickly disappeared.
Just like the brief encounter between Dad and him, and then suddenly separation.
"Thank you," Charles whispered quietly, his voice so soft that only he could hear. He lowered his eyelids and added, "Dad."
The fireworks continued for about half an hour.
After the last firework burst in the night sky, a picture of a family of four together was left behind.
"We took this photo while watching the animal fireworks that day!" Chicago immediately recognized it and was filled with excitement.
Fiona looked up, and tears welled up in her eyes.
‘Darwin, please come back.
‘I beg you, wherever you are, come back to me quickly.’
Janna looked at Fiona with pity.
Originally, Janna didn't plan on letting anyone set off fireworks, but Charles found out.
Charles insisted on setting off the fireworks that Dad had prepared.
If Darwin were still here, these fireworks tonight would bring double happiness, but since he is not here anymore, they would only add sorrow.
Charles and Chicago had to wait for the legendary Santa Claus every Christmas.
This year, Charlotte and Ethan were added.
After that night, Ethan keenly sensed that something must have happened to Chicago's family.
The next day, Ethan saw the news about Darwin falling into the sea and going missing.
In theory, since the killers were caught, Ethan should have left Chicago's house.
But after hesitating all night, Ethan decided to stay and help Chicago with her schoolwork, not wanting to add to her mom's burden of picking him up every day.
These days, Ethan stayed in his room doing his own homework and assignments, except for teaching Chicago.
Fiona hardly saw Ethan.
Approaching midnight., Chicago, exhausted, leaned against Janna's embrace, about to fall asleep.
Ethan went back to his room for a moment.
He came out with a cash gift and quietly walked over to Fiona.
"Auntie, this is for you."
Fiona was startled by the cash gift. "You're giving me money?"
"It's a custom from my father's hometown, a lucky cash gift. If you accept it, your fortune for the coming year will double," Ethan said earnestly.
Fiona smiled gently and accepted the cash. "Double the good fortune, then I must take it. Thank you, little Ethan."
Ethan mumbled a response.
He went back to where he was sitting and continued watching some Christmas videos.
Fiona stared at the cash in her hands.
The heavy burden on her heart seemed to lighten a little.
The first day of the new year.
Christopher informed Fiona early in the morning that Robert's parents had boarded a plane to Armie.
In fact, when Robert's body was discovered, his parents called people from both families to come and try to claim the body, but they couldn't take it.
The next day, a well-known American short-selling company on Wall Street suddenly announced that they would begin shorting the Astralis family.
The public relations director of the Astralis family began to worry and tried to contact Fiona or Janna through various channels.
In the end, with the impending battle between, Robert's parents finally agreed to come to Armie and personally retrieve their son's body.
They also planned to apologize to the families of the victims.
Fiona coldly replied, "Let's just leave them waiting for a few days."
"Yes," Christopher responded. "Madam, there is one more thing."
Fiona looked at him. "When did you start being so indecisive like Xavier?"
Christopher coughed lightly.
With Mike still in the hospital and Xavier keeping his distance, Christopher now found himself in the position of both Mike and Xavier.
Christopher had no experience in this area, so he followed Xavier's previous approach.
"This matter concerns Xavier. Mr. Solomon has been greatly affected by it, and I suspect Xavier is considering resigning out of guilt."
Xavier's background was actually not much different from Christopher's. They had both relied on Darwin's protection to stay out of trouble over the years.
If Xavier left...
"Tell Xavier to come see me," Fiona said icily.
Christopher was taken aback.
Judging by Fiona's expression, could it be that she only thought of Xavier after he mentioned him and now wanted to hold Xavier accountable for the loss of Mr. Solomon?
Christopher remained silent.
He didn't dare ask.
He dutifully went to summon Xavier.
When Xavier saw Fiona, he lowered his head in shame. "Madam, it was my negligence."
"In that situation, it was hard to prevent. I know." Fiona glanced at him, numbly throwing the fish food in her hand into the lake.
They had only recently moved here.
The koi fish in the lake, fed by Chicago, were gradually getting fat.
Darwin had discovered this, and then he took a photo and happily sent it to Fiona.
Xavier's eyes immediately turned red. "I shouldn't have let Mr. Solomon in."
The incident had already occurred, and no amount of self-blame would help. What he needed to do now was to lift his spirits with his team. "Continue with the tasks that Mr. Solomon had arranged for you before and protect the young miss and master," Fiona calmly said. "Next, there will inevitably be chaos within the Solomon organization, and I need all of you to help me suppress it. Where do you find the time to indulge in self-blame?"
Xavier looked up at Fiona. "Madam, please rest assured. Xavier is willing to give my all for you. I will continue to fulfill the tasks that Mr. Solomon had arranged and protect the young miss and master!"
"Shave your beard so you don't look intimidating to Chicago."
"Yes, madam."
Fiona continued to feed the fish without saying anything.
Xavier clenched his fists and nodded slightly before turning around to walk back. Christopher was waiting by the roadside. Seeing Xavier returning with red eyes, he thought, ‘Is this the end?’
"Did you get scolded?" Christopher approached. "Xavier, I admit that when Darwin was alive, I did want to push you out and take your place beside Darwin! But now, I genuinely hope you can stay. That's why I went to talk to madam. I didn't expect her to come after you afterward!"
"What are you talking about? When did madam come after me? She just asked me to do my job well..." Xavier said.
