Chapter 477 The Pampered Princess Craze

"Let's go!"

Fiona knew well that Kenny’s family wouldn't give Thalassa a hard time.

From what she’d heard, the Walker family were actually quite looking forward to Thalassa’s return.

Still, Charles seldom showed such emotions.

He wanted to stand by his godmother, afraid she'd be bullied; so, Fiona would take him there.

Let him see that the Walker family treated his godmother well; it would ease his mind.

A visible happiness flickered across Charles's face.

"Charles, dad bought some avocado yogurt. How about we share some?" Fiona whispered into Charles's ear.

Charles thought for a moment, then nodded.

Fiona immediately went to the fridge and took out the yogurt.

Mother and son shared the treat — her taking two bites, him a small one.

On Darwin’s end, things were also quite harmonious.

Chicago sat on Darwin's lap, and he looked exceptionally affectionate.

"Mr. Darwin, the oversight was indeed due to my team’s negligence. Rest assured, I will be conducting a thorough review and assessment of the department. Anyone who doesn’t meet standards or makes too many mistakes will be fired."

"Yes, Mr. Darwin, our department will also undergo a rigorous evaluation," another voice chimed in.

Chicago seemed a bit lost.

"If they’re fired, does that mean they won’t have a paycheck anymore?" she asked Darwin in her naïve voice.

Darwin paused for a second.

"No paycheck, then what will the kids at home eat?" Chicago continued.

She remembered how the staff on the island always talked about using their salaries to buy food for their kids at home.

"Not fired," Darwin said with unequivocal seriousness, then turned to the few supervisors. "Don't think about firing someone over every little thing. Everyone's got a family to feed. What are they supposed to do if they're out of a job?"

The supervisors were bewildered, staring at each other in confusion.
"We need to address the issue at hand," Darwin continued.

"Yes...Yes, Mr. Darwin."

"Can you turn things around in three days?" Darwin asked, his tone couldn't have been gentler, like a wise old father teaching life lesson.

"Absolutely, Mr. Darwin. We can do it!" The supervisors were nearly in tears.

Given their understanding of Darwin's usual approach, they were aware that being fired that day was a real possibility, or at least they would have to resolve the issues immediately.

The thought of having three whole days was beyond their wildest dreams.

"Any other issues?" Darwin asked again.

The supervisors shook their heads as vigorously as bobbleheads.

"Then, off you go to handle it."

They scurried away, as if they had just been granted a pardon.

After everyone had left.

Standing in the elevator, all with beads of sweat on their foreheads, they looked at each other in disbelief.

"I hereby declare, my life has been spared by Ms. Chicago!" one supervisor exclaimed, clutching his racing heart. "I thought my job was a goner!"

"Who would've thought Mr. Darwin was such a person deep down! The reputation of the Chicago stalwart is well deserved!"

"I’m going to the temple right after this to light incense and pray to the heavens that next time I'm called up there, Ms. Chicago is also by Mr. Darwin's side!"

They were utterly convinced of one thing.

Given Darwin's immense affection for Chicago, he would affirm even the most absurd claims if it involved her.
