Chapter 1150
It felt like the old, bossy Darwin was back in action.
Later, Fiona found out Darwin hated himself so much he split off the part he couldn't stand.
"You need to see a shrink!" Fiona yelled, rummaging for the first aid kit.
Darwin clung to her hand, scared she'd bail on him.
When she moved, he was right on her heels.
Fiona finally found the kit.
She sat Darwin down and, still sniffling, gently cleaned his red wound with antiseptic.
"If this gets infected, your hand's gonna be in serious trouble!" Fiona's touch was soft, but her words were sharp.
Darwin just grinned. "It won't."
"How can you still smile?" Fiona shot him a glare.
Darwin's mental state was clearly off-kilter.
But Fiona didn't think it was too serious.
She figured after Darwin's near-drowning, he might have some PTSD. He was already a bundle of nerves before. No biggie. Otherwise, his therapist would've caught it.
At dawn, she'd find Hubert to set up a psych eval for Darwin.
"Babe, I won't hide anything from you anymore," Darwin said, "I'll tell you everything I wanna do, good or bad. If you don't want me to, I won't."
Logically, Fiona should've been stoked to hear this.
She remembered what Janna had told her ages ago.
Was a totally different Darwin really what she wanted? Was it even normal?
"Will you forgive me?" Darwin's tone got more humble. "I can apologize to Ethan."
"Don't bother Ethan," Fiona said weakly, "He's settled into his life there. Don't mess with him."
Another Darwin had never left.
Upon hearing Fiona's words, he sat across from Darwin, mocking, "She thinks you're a demon. You split me off, catered to her to become the obedient version she likes, but she still sees you as me, a demon."
Darwin lowered his eyes, fighting the urge to confront that annoying entity.
He spoke to Fiona in his usual tone, "Okay, I'll listen to you."
"Darwin, can you not be so extreme? Either you hide everything from me, or you do everything I say." Fiona looked at Darwin seriously. "I just don't want you to hurt anyone recklessly for your own benefit."
