Chapter 1505

The night breeze was still warm from the day's heat.

Ethan stood there, staring out at Chicago.

A sudden wave of unease hit him.

He looked down and let out a short, bitter laugh. The streetlight made the tear mole under his eye look even redder.

"So, you're saying I should just laugh off whatever your dad did for the sake of our friendship?" Ethan asked.

Chicago shook his head. "I told you, I get why you did what you did. It's justified."

The business war between Wholesome Corporation and the Solomon Group had finally started to wind down over the past few years.

Chicago wasn't entirely sure how it all went down.

But the outcome was clear: the Solomon Group had backed off, selling off related businesses to Wholesome Corporation.

Meanwhile, Uncle Burl and Godfather Kenny had shifted their focus, gradually leaving the market Wholesome Corporation was after.

As a result, Ethan, the rising star of Wholesome Corporation, had become the center of attention and praise.

It was the first time in decades that the Solomon Group had made such a move.

Everyone said that Wholesome Corporation's sons-in-law had truly remarkable skills.

"Then why are you mad at me?" Ethan asked quietly.

Chicago sighed. "Ethan, I'm not mad. I made it very clear just now. I understand and agree with all your actions of revenge, but I won't associate with someone who opposes my family. It's simple. Why don't you get it?"

"I'm not seeking revenge," Ethan gritted his teeth. "Chicago, I just want to prove to your father that I can surpass him."

He would surpass him.

He wouldn't let the threats from his childhood, where everything he cared about was used against him, happen again.

"Chicago." A gentle voice called out. Chicago turned to see Fiona approaching.

Ethan was slightly taken aback and turned to look as well. Fiona paused for a moment upon seeing Ethan, then regained her composure.

"I've said everything I needed to. I hope you have a good future. Don't come looking for me again." Chicago finished and ran towards Fiona.

Fiona smiled and took her hand.

The mother and daughter walked away, chatting and laughing.

Ethan stood there, a wave of frustration surging within him. He pulled out a pack of cigarettes, took one out, lit it, and then extinguished it on the nearby trash can.

Everything was going the way he wanted.

So why was he still so unhappy?

Why was the hole in his heart growing larger?

In his mind, Ethan pictured Fiona and Chicago walking away together.

He kicked the trash can hard.

Before Ethan could leave, a security guard hurried over.

With a grim expression, Ethan paid for the auction and added an extra $2,000 for the damaged trash can.

But...

"Sorry, there's an issue with the painting. It's been withdrawn from the auction. The artist will compensate you according to the agreed amount."

Ethan's brow furrowed.

Chicago didn't even want to sell him a painting?

"Forget it."

With a dark expression, Ethan paid for the trash can and strode out.

Over the past few years, he had frequently appeared at places where Chicago would be.

He had thought that it wouldn't be long before Chicago would come to him and reconcile.

But once, twice, three times...

For three whole years.

Ethan had been repeatedly ignored by Chicago, watching her laugh and chat with others.

It was different from before.

When they were kids, no matter how cold he was, she would always happily run up to him.

Yesterday, Ethan officially ended his collaboration with Wholesome Corporation and also ended his engagement with his supposed fiancée.
