Chapter 1073
It hadn't been that long since they last met.
Liam looked as if he had aged ten years.
He silently glanced at Stella, who was carrying something and talking to him, then looked at Alexander, who was walking up the steps with a serious expression.
He lowered his eyelids to hide his emotions.
In a hoarse voice, he said, "Follow me."
When Liam turned around, Stella sighed in relief.
Then she motioned for Alexander to follow.
They quickly followed Liam forward.
Alexander was very familiar with the church. After passing the dining hall and the rooms where the followers lived, he knew where Liam was taking them.
How could this be?
When Mason was pushed down and sent to the hospital last time, Stella had his blood tested and did some routine checks.
The doctor said that apart from some trace element deficiencies, everything was fine and he was a healthy child.
Soon, Liam stopped in a hall.
Stella looked around in confusion.
It was similar to the memorial service held when Father Ben passed away.
"Is Mason praying inside?" Stella asked.
Liam's eyelids fluttered. "It's Mason's memorial service. Mrs. Beaumont, if you have anything to give, you can place it inside."
Stella thought she might be losing her mind.
She couldn't understand anything the followers at the church were saying today.
One said Mason had passed away, another said he was having his memorial service.
How could a living person be dead?
Why would a living person have a memorial service?
"Liam, this joke is not funny at all." Stella's face turned grim.
The muscles on Liam's face twitched painfully, and then he choked out in a hoarse voice. "I wish it were a joke, but it's not. Today is Mason's final farewell ceremony."
Stella only heard a buzzing in her ears.
The things in her hands slipped and fell with a clatter.
She stumbled and ran inside.
In her mind, she could only think of Mason's stern yet adorable face.
The hall was small.
Liam had done his best to arrange it well.
There were flowers and many of Mason's favorite snacks and fruits.
Stella's gaze finally landed on the table, on Mason's photo.
Her heart felt as if it had been torn apart in an instant.
"Stella." Alexander followed her in and was also shocked by the scene.
He saw her body swaying and quickly went to support her. But she pushed him away and strode out.
Liam was still standing there.
After Stella left, she asked, "Why? He was fine, why did he die!"
The haggard Liam finally looked up at her.
"Mrs. Beaumont, this is all fate's arrangement. Don't be stubborn," He said hoarsely, then looked at Alexander. "Take her back. Don't come here again."
Alexander understood Liam, who wasn't the type to hide things.
Unless Mason's death had something to do with them.
"When did he die? Why didn't you say anything?" Stella was more distraught than ever, ignoring Alexander's attempts to pull her away, grabbing Liam's arm. "Was it because you neglected him?"
"It wasn't Liam's fault!" At this moment, Aaron, who had been there earlier, ran over.
He pushed Stella and shielded Liam behind him. "You brought disaster to the church! You killed Mason!"
"Aaron!" Liam scolded.
