Chapter 1463
Thalassa and Kenny went to pick up the Walker family.
Melissa had caught a cold a few days ago and had a fever for two days. Scarlet couldn't bear the thought of Melissa traveling back and forth while still recovering.
So, she made a decision.
This year, the whole family would celebrate New Year's in Bay City.
After all, they had a house there.
Emerald Pool had plenty of rooms to accommodate everyone.
After her parents left, Melissa played until she was exhausted and refused to go back to her room to sleep. She ended up taking a nap on the couch.
When she woke up and couldn't find her parents, she felt upset.
Luckily, after wandering around for a bit, she soon spotted Fiona and ran over to her aunt for a hug.
"Remember? Your mom and dad went to pick up your family," Fiona said, pulling Melissa's little hand and kissing it.
Melissa looked confused for a moment.
Slowly, she remembered, but she still leaned softly against Fiona's shoulder. "Hold me."
"I'm holding you," Fiona said, gently patting Melissa's back.
Charlotte came over after tending to a wound, and as soon as Melissa saw her, she broke into a big smile, showing off her new teeth.
Charlotte was used to Melissa's affection for her.
She instinctively reached out.
Melissa immediately abandoned Fiona, stretching her arms and eagerly burrowing into Charlotte's embrace.
Fiona chuckled, "Why does she like you so much?"
Charlotte looked at Melissa and shook her head at Fiona. "I have no idea."
Just then, Darwin suddenly rushed downstairs, looking frantic.
Charlotte, worried Darwin might bump into Melissa, stepped aside.
"I made you some soup!" Darwin shouted as he passed Fiona.
Fiona laughed, "Slow down."
Darwin hurried to the dining room and bumped into Hubert. After a quick greeting, he rushed to check on the soup.
Thankfully, the soup was fine.
Darwin carefully poured the soup into a clear bowl.
"Mr. Solomon, what's this?" Hubert asked, tilting his head.
"Hubert, that's the soup Dad made for Mom. It's different every day, and only Mom can have it. I can't even touch it," Chicago explained, almost saying outright that Hubert shouldn't even think about it.
Hubert understood.
He watched Darwin carry the steaming bowl away.
"Your parents love each other," Hubert said sincerely to Chicago.
Chicago beamed with pride. "Dad is lucky to have someone as wonderful as Mom. Of course, he has to treat her well."
Then she added, "And my dad is the best!"
"Chicago, you're amazing!" Hubert joked with Chicago. After visiting often, Hubert and Chicago had become quite familiar with each other.
Last month, when Hubert's psychology center in Bay City officially opened, Chicago had even sent a fantastic painting to celebrate.
Before long, the Walker family arrived in full force.
Scarlet Walker had brought eight carts of gifts.
The servants spent two hours unloading everything.
The variety of gifts covered everyone, from the elderly to the children.
Fiona was both amused and helpless.
Scarlet hadn't seen Fiona in a long time and was delighted to see her looking much healthier. "Fiona, you look so much better!"
"Mr. Solomon, no matter how busy he is, makes sure to prepare nourishing food for Fiona every day. He insists she takes her medicine three times a day, even if he has to supervise via video call when he's not around!" Thalassa chimed in.
"I've heard about that. An old friend of mine invested in the Solomon Group and attended their quarterly meeting last quarter. In the middle of the meeting, Mr. Solomon's phone alarm went off, and he immediately paused the meeting to call his wife. Now, everyone in North Alabama is talking about how the once ruthless Mr. Solomon has become a devoted husband, checking in with his wife eight times a day!"
