Chapter 1236
The old Darwin used to be a workaholic, believing nothing was more important than work. But now, even if he was sick, he'd drop his favorite job just because Fiona said so.
In the past, Fiona would've been thrilled about this. But now, she couldn't feel happy.
If the cost of him listening to her was Darwin falling apart, she didn't want that.
"We'll talk about it later," Fiona said, gripping Darwin's hand tightly.
They finally got to the airport.
After going through customs, boarding, and a long flight, they landed in Cyberia.
Coincidentally, Fiona had some business to take care of in Cyberia.
When they arrived, someone from the company sent a car to pick them up.
After picking up Fiona, they headed straight to the hotel.
On the first day, Fiona was swamped with work, and the effects of the special medicine had worn off.
Darwin looked visibly more tired.
Burl was constantly on edge, worried Darwin might suddenly change.
But until Fiona finished her work, nothing happened.
When Hubert's message came, Fiona had just wrapped up her last meeting in Cyberia.
She glanced at the gloomy sky outside and went to find Darwin.
"All done?" Darwin saw the fatigue in her eyes and felt really bad. "I found a restaurant and ordered some food. It should be here soon."
"Darwin, Hubert's lab is right here in Cyberia, and he's back too. Let's go visit him," Fiona said softly.
Darwin didn't resist Hubert anymore.
After a slight hesitation, he nodded. "Is it far from here? How about we go after having the soup?"
Fiona said, "No."
She knew delaying it was pointless and would only make her feel worse.
Better to rip the band-aid off quickly.
"Alright," Darwin saw Fiona was a bit unhappy and spoke very gently, "Then let's go there and have Mr. Graham treat us to a meal."
A slight smile appeared on Fiona's face.
The car drove eastward.
An hour later, they arrived at Hubert's lab.
Though called a lab, it actually looked like a small hospital.
As Darwin got out of the car, he started to feel uneasy.
Hubert, in a white lab coat, greeted them with a smile.
"Finally, I've been looking forward to your visit. Mr. Solomon, how have you been these days? Been taking your meds on time?" He was as warm as ever.
"With my wife around, there's no way I could miss it," Darwin joked.
Hubert glanced at Fiona with a smile, whose complexion wasn't great.
"Let's go inside and talk. The fog's been heavy lately, and since I got back, I feel like my breathing's been off," Hubert said, leading Darwin and Fiona inside.
Christopher and Mike followed at the back, while Burl walked beside Fiona and Darwin.
The Cyberian-style wrought iron gate closed with a heavy sound after everyone went in.
Christopher couldn't help but look back.
He wasn't supposed to come this time.
After all, leaving Armie, especially venturing into Elysium territory, increased his risk of being hunted down. But with Fiona coming here, he had to follow, even if it meant facing danger.
