Chapter 1373
Wyatt and Darwin used to be best buds when they were kids.
When Wyatt was younger, he often heard his family talk about Aiden.
"My grandma would always sigh when she mentioned Aiden. I remember her saying he seemed fine when they met a few months ago, but then he went and did something crazy," Wyatt said, running his hands through his hair and pacing in front of Fiona.
He looked like he was about to blow a fuse.
Fiona just let him vent.
Wyatt went on, "Thinking back, it's wild. He seemed fine, then out of nowhere, he killed his fiancée! Why? Because that witch Odette messed with his meds! She killed her own sister for such a stupid reason! She drove Aiden to despair and suicide!"
Yeah, the diary laid it all out.
Odette's reason was simple.
Because of Aiden, Marisole, who was always so good to Odette, started focusing all her attention on him.
Odette believed true love could conquer anything.
So she switched Aiden's meds, thinking if he really loved Marisole, love would heal him without the meds.
When Aiden had a breakdown and killed Marisole, Odette was at home.
Her diary said she locked herself in her room, hearing Marisole's screams and finding out she was pregnant.
Odette was freaked out in her diary.
[He didn't really love Marisole, or he wouldn't have killed her!]
[Marisole was such a fool, ignoring me for a guy like that, losing her life and her baby's!]
[I won't make the same mistake; I'll find someone who truly loves me.]
[Even though Marisole is gone, I wasn't wrong. Brooke has changed a lot; her son is dead, and she finally gets what her overbearing nature can lead to. She's starting to soften.]
In the diary, she also excitedly wrote about switching the meds back after Aiden's death.
[I almost got caught by that nosy Vespera.]
Vespera nearly figured it out back then, but it seemed like even fate was on Odette's side.
When Vespera checked the meds, she noticed there were more pills than there should be.
But everything was so chaotic, no one paid attention to a few extra or missing pills. It was easy to miss or take an extra one now and then.
Because Vespera was suspicious, Odette took the money and ran back to Marisole's hometown, which eventually led to her hooking up with Paul and everything that followed.
If Vespera hadn't been suspicious, Odette's plan was to accept Brooke's apology and let Brooke adopt her, making her the adopted daughter of the Solomon family.
When Fiona read this part, she felt a chill run down her spine.
She silently thanked Vespera a thousand times and thought about reminding Charles and Chicago that even if she and Darwin were gone, they had to help the Emrys family if they ever needed it.
Vespera was practically a hero to the Solomon family.
If Odette had stayed with the Solomons, Fiona couldn't imagine what their family would be like now.
"Why don't you shout a little louder, maybe right into Rose's ear," Fiona said, looking at the furious Wyatt.
Wyatt stopped yelling.
He picked up the diary from the floor and kept reading.
His handsome face was all scrunched up and tense.
Fiona went to the fireplace, lit it, and grabbed some beef jerky from an old cabinet. She browsed the internet for news while waiting for Wyatt to finish reading and calm down.
The day she got the diary, she read it in this small cabin too.
She was so mad her chest hurt, and it took her a while to cool off.
After Marisole's death, the diary entries became less frequent.
But Odette did write about accepting Paul's confession and their first time together.
And in a really twisted way, she wore Marisole and Aiden's wedding rings. She wrote in the diary that she felt she had found her true love and opened the door to happiness.
