Chapter 1058
They consulted a lawyer, and the compensation for natural death and funeral expenses was far less than the amount they were given.
"I'll buy the cemetery plot!" Scarlet said angrily.
However, to ensure that Arnold, who had accompanied her for so many years, could be properly buried, she had no choice but to do so.
Janet heard this and immediately said, "I also consulted some cemeteries before coming here. Why don't you give us the money, and we'll visit a few more places to buy one according to Dad's preferences!"
Scarlet laughed in anger.
Philip angrily elbowed Janet and glared at her. "Let Mrs. Walker handle it!"
Scarlet looked at Stephanie, who was standing not far away. "You go with them, and remember to inform me of any issues."
"Yes, Mrs. Walker."
"Alright, go ahead," Scarlet waved her hand.
After the two left, she picked up her cup and took a sip of the now cold coffee.
Since Arnold passed away, she felt there was something wrong with the food and coffee she consumed.
Thinking about Philip and Janet's greedy expressions just now, her anger flared up.
She smashed the cup in her hand violently.
"Why do good people never get what they deserve!" She lamented deeply.
Stella and Fiona exchanged a glance. They quietly drew off.
After a day's delay, Fiona and her group had to return to Bay City.
Once Scarlet calmed down a bit, Fiona and Stella went over together.
"You're here." Scarlet tidied her hair and looked at them again, her expression softening. "I originally wanted you to have a wonderful summer, but I didn't expect such a disgusting thing to happen."
"The disgusting one is Abigail. This summer has still been wonderful for us," Fiona said.
Stella nodded repeatedly. "I've never felt so comfortable in my life! I want to come back more often!"
Hearing their words, Scarlet finally had a slight smile on her face. "Next time, when you come back, I promise none of this will happen!"
She took a deep breath. "Are you leaving now?"
"Yes." Fiona nodded. "We'll stop by the maternity care center once more, and then head back to Bay City."
"Alright, once Thalassa recovers, we'll meet in Bay City," Scarlet said warmly, "I'm so grateful you were here; Thalassa's mood has been so good before and after giving birth. I'll always remember your kindness."
"I should be the one thanking you," Fiona said sincerely, "Thank you for loving Thalassa as if she were your own daughter."
Scarlet's love for Thalassa was evident to all.
"Let's not talk about this!" Scarlet said, a bit embarrassed. "Don't forget the gifts I prepared for you!"
"Of course."
After a few more words, Fiona and Stella left.
Back at their respective places, all the luggage had already been loaded onto the car.
Fiona pinched Chicago's chin and looked closely from side to side.
Despite the ordeal, her face was unscathed.
"Good thing your face isn't hurt, or your godmother would be worried sick," Fiona said, releasing Chicago's chin and patting her cheek. "Let's go, say goodbye to others."
