Chapter 1384
"So, it's a reward," Fiona said, checking the time. "I'm off to the airport; gotta run."
Mike stood at the intersection, watching Fiona's car disappear.
A childlike excitement lit up his face.
He had just planned to ask Fiona for a high-end VIP card to get a discount on his island vacation!
But Fiona went ahead and offered him a piece of land to build his dream house!
Mike was in an amazing mood.
He hummed a tune all the way back to the research institute.
Meanwhile, Rose had set up a coffee meeting with someone, but halfway through, she got a message from Fiona asking her to meet at the airport.
It was the end of the year, and the Solomon Group's work was piling up.
Rose knew Fiona was super busy.
But she didn't expect Fiona to stay at the research institute for less than two hours before heading back to Bay City.
She quickly wrapped up her meeting and rushed to the airport.
"Am I keeping you from meeting your friend?" Fiona asked, a bit apologetically.
Rose shook her head. "No, I wasn't meeting a friend."
"That's good." Fiona nodded and went back to looking at the files on her iPad.
Rose sat across from Fiona and pulled out a box of cookies from her handbag. "These are from a dessert shop I love; they're really good," she said.
"Thanks," Fiona said, taking them. "I love cookies."
Rose smiled. "Great. If you like them, I can have the pastry chef send you more."
"OK," Fiona replied.
Even though all the traveling made her look a bit tired, she was clearly happy.
"How's Mr. Solomon's recovery?" Rose asked casually.
"Hubert is even more amazing than I thought," Fiona said with satisfaction. "Darwin is doing really well. Hubert will do an assessment in the next few days, and if everything's good, Darwin can go home by the end of the month. After that, a few more courses of medication, and he should be fine."
Fiona took a deep breath, like a weight had been lifted off her shoulders.
Rose noticed and said, "That's great. First, Mr. Solomon gets better, and second, if the medication can be marketed, it'll help a lot of patients and bring in big profits!"
"Yeah." Fiona nodded with a smile. "But it won't hit the market that quickly. You're gaining experience at the Solomon Group now, and if you can earn the board's approval by then, I'll have you handle the medication's marketing and promotion."
Rose was stunned.
She wasn't a complete newbie to the workplace anymore.
She knew how profitable it would be if the medication finally hit the market, and Fiona was offering it to her?
"Before I left, Mr. Graham spoke highly of you." Fiona's expression softened. She continued, "I thought, even though you two aren't related by blood, you're like siblings. If you were in charge of the medication's marketing and promotion, Hubert would be very happy."
"I'll do my best!" Rose nodded lightly.
Outside, it had become misty and started to drizzle.
"Looks like there will be a delay," Rose remarked.
"Yeah. Hopefully, we can make it to tomorrow's meeting," Fiona said, glancing outside too.
Rose then excused herself to get coffee for Fiona and got up to leave.
Fiona glanced at Rose's departing figure.
Her gaze returned to the iPad.
