Chapter 1371

Fiona threw Wyatt a curveball with her question.

But Wyatt took it seriously, trying to remember if Paul had ever mentioned it.

Turns out, Paul did.

"After we got away, about six months later, my mom's health improved. When we went for a check-up, the doctor kept asking about the meds she had taken before. It seemed like some kind of drug poisoning," Paul had said.

Paul also mentioned, "Thank goodness I got my parents out of there, or who knows when she would've killed them!"

He added, "She thought my parents were too controlling. She believed only she could control me, so she targeted them! Does that make any sense to you? She was terrifying. Even later, when I heard she had a new boyfriend, I didn't dare go back, afraid she'd show up at my house in the middle of the night and kill my whole family!"

"She swapped out the meds Paul's mom was taking," Fiona said bluntly.

Wyatt noticed a cold, intense look in her eyes.

"That's probably it," Wyatt thought and said. "I heard she drank herself to death in Germany."

Fiona nodded.

Odette's bones were different from normal bones due to long-term alcohol exposure, even after her death.

"How can you be so calm?" Wyatt thought he had seen a lot, but Paul's story made his skin crawl.

Why was Fiona so calm?

Fiona lowered her eyelids.

Of course, Fiona already knew everything Wyatt was saying.

She not only knew about Paul's experiences but also knew where Rose's biological father had gone.

"There's something else that creeps me out." Wyatt lowered his voice, leaned closer to Fiona, and frowned. "I mentioned to Paul that Odette had a daughter, but the biological father was unknown. Maybe she was Paul's daughter."

Wyatt mentioned Rose's age.

Paul immediately denied it, saying he had run away by then.

Then Paul said, "Unknown biological father? You rich folks can't even find out?"

Wyatt joked back, "Even people richer than me couldn't find out back then."

Paul blurted out, "Then she must have killed him!"

Wyatt had been joking.

When he heard this, he got goosebumps all over.

"If Odette really killed Paul, then what's one more dead scumbag to her? She's so crazy, she might have really killed that man, which is why he just disappeared!" Wyatt seriously analyzed for Fiona.

"Mr. Durham, you survived a near-death experience, so maybe your brain grew back," Fiona said with a smile.

Wyatt frowned, a bit wary. "Why do I feel like you're insulting me?"

Fiona shook her head. "I'm complimenting you. Your new brain is useful. You and that thug guessed right."

Wyatt was shocked.

Then he instantly became serious. "Fiona, what exactly are you doing?"

"I'm setting a trap," Fiona said, looking at Wyatt, enunciating each word.

Wyatt still didn't know what Fiona was up to, but he instinctively glanced upstairs.

Charles and Chicago lived up there.

Fiona said, "Don't worry; outsiders can't get up there."

"She's a problem, isn't she?" Wyatt asked in a very low voice. Before Fiona could answer, he had his answer and said angrily, "You're taking too big a risk! Why bring her home when you can deal with her elsewhere? Besides Charles and Chicago, Melissa and your grandmother are at home! You're being reckless!"

"Grandma knows too," Fiona said calmly. "To make Rose show her flaws, I have to let her into my life."

Wyatt exclaimed, "What the hell is going on! You have to explain it to me today. I saved Charles and Chicago. I'll never have kids in my life, and I'll treat them as my own. You owe me an explanation!"

Fiona was taken aback.

Then she burst out laughing. "My son and daughter are sleeping, and a huge fortune falls from the sky."

Wyatt called out, "Fiona!"
