Chapter 781 We Love Each Other Deeply
"What agreement?" Darwin asked.
"It doesn't matter if you don't remember anything; you just need to remember one thing." Fiona looked gently at Darwin.
He then resembled a lost puppy in the heavy rain, lost and helpless.
"We love each other deeply." Fiona said firmly and gently, "No matter what happens, this fact can never be changed, and it will support us through the long future. Do you remember?"
"Mm." Darwin's eyes grew redder, nodding in agreement, and then he hugged Fiona again, choking as he whispered in her ear. "I love you."
Fiona smiled gently.
She also opened her arms, embracing Darwin, her palm running along his bony back. "I love you too."
The pain in Darwin's heart remained unhealed, the fear still present. However, thinking of what Fiona said. "We love each other deeply." Which gave him the courage to confront these pains.
After learning about his past actions, Darwin suddenly understood how he managed to survive through such difficulty.
He owed his loved one so much. Without making amends, how could he dare to die?
Back at the apartment, Fiona decided to desensitize Darwin. She ordered fresh groceries to be delivered.
For lunch, Fiona prepared three dishes and a soup in the apartment, all of which Darwin used to enjoy.
After lunch, Fiona picked a movie, and the two cuddled on the couch watching it.
Darwin felt particularly insecure today, needing to kiss every ten minutes. They were watching a horror movie, and every scary scene prompted Darwin to seek a kiss.
By the end of the movie, Fiona's lips were numb.
Realizing it was time, they left the apartment to pick up their child from school.
"Swollen." Fiona checked herself in the mirror in the car, pointing to a spot on her lip. "There's a bit of broken skin here, and your daughter will definitely ask about it later!"
Darwin lightly touched Fiona's lips. "Does it hurt?"
"Numb..." Fiona pushed away Darwin's hand. "Today is an exception; be more restrained in the future!"
Darwin nodded with a smile. "Okay!"
"You always pretend to be obedient!" Although Fiona said this, the couple's hands remained tightly intertwined.
Fiona glanced at her phone. Christopher had already put Mr. Soloman Sr. on the plane.
"Mr. Soloman Sr. was a bit uncooperative. I had him directly escorted onto the plane. He'll probably wake up just in time to get off the plane," Christopher reported.
Fiona replied, "Thank you; how is Southeast Asia?"
"I was going to tell you. Old Mrs. Rhoads has known this matter. She just called me and said she's going to tell them to hand over the woman."
Fiona pursed her lips. Janna was someone to whom both the underworld and the righteous side would show respect.
"Alright, just hand him over to her," Fiona replied, putting away her phone.
She looked outside again. They had arrived at Charles's school gate.
"You go pick him up; he'll be thrilled!" Fiona squeezed Darwin's hand.
There was no need to hide anymore, with the press conference already held.
Darwin hesitated, touching the scar on his face, "I'm afraid other kids will make fun of Charles."
"Other kids will only envy that Charles has such a capable dad. Are you going, or should I go?" Fiona asked.
In the end, Darwin got out of the car.
Fiona watched Darwin, who had become much thinner, walking towards Charles. Darwin's back looked clear and determined.
'Indeed, did he have no self-awareness about his appearance? Why was he always worried that the scar would make him look ugly? If he was ugly, where in the world could one find someone good-looking?'
Charles was chatting with a few friends at the school gate about the physics competition during the holidays. Suddenly, Evelyn's gaze shifted behind him, her eyes widening. Charles instinctively turned around and saw Darwin standing not far away, waving and smiling at him.
"My dad's here to pick me up. If you're done talking about anything else, post it in the group," Charles said calmly, as usual.
"Alright, you go!" Evelyn nodded immediately.
Charles adjusted his backpack strap and walked towards Darwin. Normally, Charles was slow, but today, his steps unconsciously quickened.
"Did you come alone?" Charles asked as he reached Darwin and naturally held his hand.
Darwin replied, "Your mommy is here too, she's in the car."
"Yeah!" Charles nodded, then asked, "Did you have a good day today?"
"Very good!" Darwin replied immediately.
"That's great."
Charles needed to improve at small talk. Within three sentences, he would kill the conversation.
"How about you? Did you have a good day?" Darwin asked.
Charles nodded. "It was okay. I solved a difficult problem, and the teacher praised me."
"Charles, you're so cool!" Darwin praised him immediately.
Charles blushed. He was too embarrassed to respond to Darwin's compliment.
Soon, the father and son got into the car one after the other.
Charles hugged Fiona, then returned to his seat and slowly discussed some school matters with Fiona.
Unable to resist, his gaze kept drifting to Fiona's lips.
While Charles sent a message to the kitchen: [Prepare some light food, Mommy's lips are broken.]
While Charles was messaging, Fiona whispered to Darwin, "Feels good, doesn't it?"
Darwin nodded. It was more than just good. Watching Charles walk towards him from the midst of so many children, Darwin felt his eyes welling up with tears.
"I'll come again tomorrow!" Darwin whispered to Fiona.
Fiona's shoulders trembled with a light laugh.
When they arrived in Chicago, Darwin got out of the car to pick up Chicago.
Xavier picked up Chicago and saw Darwin in the distance.
Seeing Darwin, Chicago immediately shouted, "Dad!"
People around turned to look.
Chicago ran to Darwin like a gust of wind, hugging his leg.
Darwin felt surrounded by happiness.
He gently patted Chicago's head. "Why did you run so fast? Dad won't run away."
"I wanted to hug you faster!" Chicago said as sweet as ever.
There were a lot of people around.
When Chicago realized this, she quickly pulled Darwin into the car.
Seems worried.
The parents out there just kept looking at Darwin, and there were candid videos that would freak him out.
After fastening the seatbelt, Chicago turned to Darwin and explained, "Dad, the people outside are good people who care about you. You don't need to be afraid!"
Darwin touched her little head. "Dad knows."
Only then did Chicago relax a bit. She looked out the window, confirmed that Charlotte had gotten into another car, and then instructed the driver to drive home.
