Chapter 143 Parting Approaches

On this night, Darwin had a bit too much to drink. He appeared normal, but he couldn't walk in a straight line anymore. Fiona didn't care about him anymore. But when he got drunk, Darwin became much bolder. Since leaving the restaurant, he had been relying on Fiona, holding her hand, and no matter how she tried to let go, he wouldn't release his grip. Fiona was furious and even kicked him in the car.

The driver in the front seat was visibly shaken.

Mr. Solomon, on the other hand, looked hurt but refused to let go, mumbling, "Fiona, you kicked me so hard!"

Then Secretary Woods replied, “Why didn’t it hurt you to death!”

In the end, after scolding him, Secretary Woods didn't continue to attack. When they arrived at their destination and got off the car, Darwin was still clinging to Fiona. Fiona supported him and led him back to their room. Originally, the plan was to push him onto the bed and leave. But Darwin was good at being clingy, so in the end, Fiona pushed him and he took the opportunity to embrace her, rolling onto the bed together.

Fiona exclaimed, "Let go of me, I'll go get you a warm towel." Fiona slapped his back hard.

Darwin winced in pain and whimpered. "Don't let go, if you do, it means you don't want me anymore."

Fiona hesitated for a moment. She was indeed almost reaching her limit with him.

In the afternoon, Janna contacted her. She planned to stage a passenger ship explosion in the nearby waters, creating the illusion that Fiona boarded the ship and making Darwin believe that she was on it. They would only detonate it when the ship reached the deep sea area. Salvaging from the deep sea was extremely difficult, and countless ships sank without a trace. For smaller vessels, they couldn't even find the ships. Perhaps it was time for them to part ways or maybe Darwin was being too clingy now, and a bit fragile.

Fiona gently patted the back of his hand. "Aren't you going to freshen up?"

Darwin was someone who cared about cleanliness. "Of course!"

Fiona found him amusing, “Then shall I accompany you to the bathroom?”. This time, Darwin agreed to her suggestion.
After a moment, in the spacious master bathroom, Fiona wrung out a warm towel. Darwin leaned against the sink, watching her, and reached out his hands proactively for Fiona gently wiped them for him. "Darwin, try not to trouble others so much in the future. Don't lose someone good when you have them."

Her voice was very soft and low. She didn't know if Darwin heard her. He was just being well-behaved, blushing and swaying as she wiped him.

After cleaning his hands, Fiona also wiped his face for him. Every inch of Darwin was beautiful in Fiona's eyes. With the warm towel, she traced his eyebrows, eyes, and nose.

"Why are your eyes red?"

Darwin raised his hand and lightly touched the outer corner of her eye. "It's because of you, making me angry," Fiona lowered her eyelids and handed him the toothpaste, giving it all to him. "Brush your teeth yourself!"

Darwin took the toothbrush and then suddenly spoke seriously to Fiona, "After brushing my teeth, I will kiss you."

Fiona looked at him.

Sighing speechlessly, he smiled and said, “Hurry up and brush!”

Drunk with alcohol, Darwin brushed his teeth meticulously, although a bit clumsily, like a child.
Fiona still didn't know whether the babies in her belly was a boy or a girl. Everyone says that daughters usually look like their dads. She didn't know either if one of her two children would resemble him. She and Darwin met in midsummer. And now, they were about to part ways in deep winter.

At this moment, Darwin finished brushing his teeth and rinsed his mouth.

Fiona regained her thoughts and said, "Let's go back, um..." Before she could finish speaking,
Darwin embraced her waist, lowered his head, and kissed her. His mouth tasted like mint.

The kiss was careful and gentle. As if afraid that pressing a bit harder would break her.
In a daze, the two of them returned to the bedroom, lying on the bed, unable to part from their kiss. However, in the end, Darwin lay on top of Fiona and stopped moving. He kissed Fiona's eyebrows and eyes.

"Wait a little longer, wait a bit more time, you will get hurt." Fiona lay on the bed, her breath not calming down for a long time. She raised her hand, her fingertips inserted into Darwin's thick hair, and looked at the old-fashioned ceiling fan above. No words were spoken.

After Darwin fell asleep, Fiona got up, picked up her scattered dress from the floor, and took a bath in her own bathroom. She lay back on her own bed. That night, Fiona didn't sleep very well.

At daybreak, she went out for a walk. She also went to an old famous tea house and had a breakfast.
Counting that it was almost time for work, Fiona slowly returned home.

At the doorstep, Darwin's voice came from the living room. "How is Lilian now? Fine! Why weren't you taking good care of her? I'm going back now..."

Even with a heart that is almost dead, it still felt bitterness this time. As Fiona entered the house, Darwin had just hung up the phone. "Fiona...," Darwin walked over, "Lilian had a little accident, and I..."

Fiona appeared indifferent, "You're not going to take me with you, are you?"

"No..." Darwin quickly replied. He felt that his answer was inappropriate as soon as he spoke. "Fiona, I promise you this will be the last time. If she exhibits any more extreme behavior in the future, I will consider sending her to a professional institution for mandatory treatment." Darwin tried to hold Fiona's hand as he spoke.

"I understand." Fiona avoided it, "You should leave quickly."

"I'll be back before sunset."

Fiona nodded. Darwin wanted to say something else, but ended up not saying anything, and hurriedly left with his coat.

After he left, Fiona felt an unusual silence in the house. Even the birds and insects in the jungle seemed to have gone quiet. As if they were all afraid of disturbing someone in pain. Fiona took a deep breath. Just then, Ashton's phone call came in.

"Good morning, babe." Fiona answered.

Ashton laughed on the other end, "Babe, the doctor said I can be discharged. Shall I come find you?"

Fiona, "Forget it. This place is filled with smog. I'll come back to find you. I want to eat hot pot with you."

"Alright, in case I see Darwin and can't help but throttle him, I don't want to end up in prison!"
Ashton hummed, "Then should I wait for you at the airport? What time are you leaving?"

Fiona: "I'll let you know once I've purchased the ticket."

Ashton: "Okk!"

Fiona bought a ticket for 2 PM in the afternoon. She didn't pack much luggage, just some dried fruits and coconut candies that Ashton liked. After having a satisfying lunch, she took a taxi to the airport. During the boarding process, Darwin called, but Fiona was busy with security checks, so she hung up on him. Once she finished the checks, she turned off her phone.

Ashton arrived at the airport at 3 o'clock. As they waited, suddenly, there was a commotion at the airport.

"A plane has crashed! Oh my goodness!"

Ashton grabbed someone, "Which plane crashed? Was it a passenger plane? Where was it flying from and to?"

"KMHS2891, a flight from Asia City to Bay City!"
