Chapter 770 Feeding the Puppy
In the woman's lowered gaze, a hint of disgust flickered. But the next moment, when she raised her gaze again, it was filled with tender affection.
"Of course, I believe in you. I don't need to rely on the Internet to know what kind of person you are!"
"You're the most adorable!" Mr. Solomon Sr. breathed a sigh of relief. He knew deep down that this woman was different from the others. By his side, he felt a relaxation he had never experienced before. She could play along with him, be submissive to him, unlike Anniston or those women who always had ulterior motives.
As he grew older, he realized he wouldn't be able to keep up with the lifestyle he once had, so he wanted to settle down with this person. He had been genuinely worried that the online accusations would affect her and drive her away.
"I don't think your daughter-in-law is going to back down. Let's not waste any more time and go to the police directly!" The woman said decisively.
"The police?" Mr. Solomon Sr. looked at his young girlfriend in confusion.
"You're Mr. Solomon Sr., you can express your concern for your son's safety and suspect that your daughter-in-law has done something harmful to him. That's enough reason to go to the police!"
"That's right!" Mr. Solomon Sr. clapped his hands forcefully. Then, he hugged the woman. "You're the smartest! How about a Birkin bag from Hermès?"
"I've told you, I don't like you spending money recklessly, hundreds of thousands on a bag is just extravagant..."
Mr. Solomon Sr. became even more excited. She truly loved him, not his money!
It was already night. The lights were on in the garden.
Chicago and Charles were playing with Jessie on the lawn. Fiona was holding Darwin's arm, and Darwin was carrying a small basket of fruits they had picked together after dinner. She had planted them for him.
The cool night breeze dispersed the heat of the day, making it very comfortable.
"Are you tired?" Fiona asked Darwin softly.
Darwin shook his head. "I'm happy today. It's really good to be home."
Fiona smiled. "Tomorrow, I plan to turn the unused gym at home into a rehabilitation room and have a physiotherapist come home for your rehabilitation, so we don't have to go back and forth."
"Okay." Darwin's right leg still needed two more surgeries. It was probably injured in the sea, causing a fracture, which Cyrus had treated, but not well, resulting in problems with the bones and muscles to varying degrees. The bone issues could be resolved through surgery. But the muscle and tendon problems could only be restored through slow rehabilitation.
Just as they were talking, Jessie happily ran over with something in her mouth. When she reached Darwin, she put it down at his feet. Then, Jessie's forelimbs were on the ground, her butt was up, and she wagged her tail, barking at Darwin.
Fiona and Darwin looked down and saw a large piece of chicken breast dog treat on the slate path. It was Jessie's favorite.
"Jessie, do you want him to have it?" Fiona asked the dog, feeling both amused and exasperated.
The dog barked happily and proudly. Fiona immediately felt even happier.
At this moment, Chicago and Charles also came over.
Chicago could be said to be quite helpless. "Jessie, this is a dog treat. Daddy doesn't eat dog treats!"
Jessie looked at Chicago blankly. Jessie didn't know if she understood, but she barked at Darwin in a hurry. After all, it was the dog treat she liked to eat. Jessie barked and drooled a lot.
"I really didn't save you back then." Darwin put the small basket down, patted the dog's head, and picked up the piece of chicken breast, feeding it to Jessie's mouth. "I won't eat it, you eat it."
Jessie looked at Darwin, then at the chicken breast. Fiona could feel from the dog's loose nose that it was now thinking. Darwin simply stuffed the chicken breast into its mouth.
Now, Jessie couldn't resist the temptation, she bit the chicken breast and ran away happily.
Darwin was about to pick up the small basket again but Charles was a step ahead. He still didn't talk much, and he didn't call Darwin "Dad" often after that day. But Charles always appeared by Darwin's side to help whenever Darwin needed it.
"Thank you, Charles," Darwin said gently. Charles nodded and walked forward without a word.
Darwin spent more time outside than usual today. By the time he got back, his leg was already aching, but he endured it and didn't say anything.
After staying in the living room for a while, he was taken back to the room by Fiona.
After Darwin came back, there was one thing he insisted on. He didn't let anyone help him take a shower. Not even Fiona. It was because he knew too well how many injuries he had on his body. The degree of horror was enough to shock himself. He didn't want Fiona to see it.
While Darwin was showering, Fiona was outside, afraid that he might fall. When he finished showering, Fiona helped him dry his hair. It was rare for the two of them to have a completely private space. They whispered sweet nothings for a long time. Fiona's hand reached into Darwin's pajamas, and her fingertips touched his scars, gently tracing them. With each touch, her heart ached a little.
"I'll be fine," Darwin said, pressing her hand, his voice somewhat hoarse.
Fiona responded, then looked up and kissed Darwin again. Just like the previous few nights, the two of them kissed passionately, but that was as far as it went. Fiona wasn't greedy. There would be plenty of time to make up for it when he was better.
On the first night back home, Darwin managed to get a decent night's sleep.
Early the next morning, Charles, Chicago, and Charlotte were all going to school.
Fiona got up early. She had wanted Darwin to rest a little longer. But Darwin was already awake. If he got up, she would too.
The family of four had breakfast together in the restaurant.
"Dad, are you going to take us to school today?" Chicago's beautiful eyes sparkled with anticipation as she looked at Darwin. Her little thoughts were written all over her face.
"Of course!" Darwin immediately agreed, then subconsciously looked at his wife.
"What do you think I'm going to do? Can I not let it happen?" Fiona asked with a smile.
A smile immediately appeared on Darwin's face. Fiona smiled and lowered her eyelids. She estimated that Mr. Solomon Sr. was about to lose his composure. In these two days, there should be some action...
After breakfast, Fiona and Darwin, who had been apart for a long time, sent Charles and Chicago to school together. Both children were visibly happy.
After seeing off Charles and Chicago, they were about to go back when the headmaster hurried over.
"Fiona, it's finally good to see you! The art center donated by Mr. Solomon Jr is almost completed. Since you're here, would you like to take a look?" "
