Chapter 1473

Burl got married.

It was a bit of a late marriage.

The chip project kept him busy for three and a half years, and after achieving great success, Burl found himself stepping into his thirties.

Janna had already retired by then and was constantly worried about Burl's marriage.

Burl's wife was someone Janna had set him up with.

She was seven years younger than him.

Her parents were both college professors, coming from a family with a strong academic background and excellent values.

The girl fell for Burl at first sight.

Their relationship developed quickly. Although it wasn't as fast as Thalassa and Kenny's whirlwind marriage, it took less than three months from their first meeting to their wedding.

Three years after the wedding, Burl's son was born.

After his son was born, Burl started living a semi-retired life while his wife continued her studies and pursued a graduate degree.

Because his wife experienced some postpartum depression and was particularly resistant to breastfeeding, Burl decided not to breastfeed, regardless of what others said.

Everything was done with his wife's feelings in mind.

When their eldest son turned five, Burl and his wife had twin daughters.

Now, their life could be described as happy, lively, and fulfilling.

"Where's your wife?" Janna asked cheerfully.

"Charles and I just got back from a business trip. She told me not to go home but to come straight here. She'll be bringing the kids over soon," Burl said, showing off like a teenager despite his age. "How about this gift? Do you like it? It's one of a kind in the world!"

"I love it! I love it so much! When I blow out the candles and make a wish for my birthday, I'll make a special wish for you!"

"Then I want to make $100 billion next year!"

"Wake up, you can dream about anything," Darwin replied mercilessly. "You haven't been to the office all year, and your major investors are very unhappy."

"Aren't you my major investor?" Burl grumbled. "Haven't I made you plenty of money?"

"Things haven't been great lately," Darwin said flatly.

Burl's smug expression faded a bit.

"Our research hasn't kept up, that's on me," Burl said seriously. "But when did Wholesome Corporation get such a powerful player? He handled both research and marketing, caught me off guard, and even Kenny almost didn't see it coming!"

"I heard he's the son-in-law of Wholesome Corporation's second-largest shareholder," Fiona replied.

Wholesome Corporation was an old foreign conglomerate, but it had always been low-key, mainly operating in retail. Its supermarket chains had a significant market share worldwide.

However, five years ago, Wholesome Corporation suddenly started venturing into high-tech.

Several of their businesses overlapped with the Solomon Group, continuously squeezing the Solomon Group's market share.

Earlier this year, Wholesome Corporation suddenly announced that their chip business, which had been in development for over a decade, was about to launch.

Typically, such announcements were made, but chips were hard to produce. After evaluating, Burl and his team thought it would take at least three to five years.

Unexpectedly, three months ago, Wholesome Corporation held a press conference and released a groundbreaking product.

This product directly competed with Burl's company's flagship chip.

It was a brutal blow that caught them completely off guard.

"I heard the CEO of Wholesome Corporation is in bad shape. His eldest and second sons both want to be CEO. By releasing the chip now, the second son has secured the conglomerate's fortune, and the eldest son is going to lose," Janna said with a click of her tongue.

"Isn't that old man just over seventy?" Burl sat next to Janna. "He's pretty useless, unlike you, Janna. You'll live to be over a hundred!"

"If I reach a hundred, I'll be an old witch!" Janna gave Burl a playful slap.

Fiona smiled softly.
