Chapter 697 Let Annie Home
Mr. Ross held onto this glimmer of hope as he followed Henry to the conference room.
Both Chelsea and Fiona were not unfamiliar to Mr. Ross.
In the past, Fiona, the secretary had ruined the alliance between the Ross family and the Solomons. Mr. Ross had even considered killing her.
His illegitimate child and his daughter both had suffered because of this woman.
As for Chelsea, she was the outstanding successor appointed by Janna, and Mr. Ross had always been trying to make connections with her.
Mr. Ross never imagined that Chelsea and Fiona could be the same person.
Entering the conference room, Mr. Ross saw this young and beautiful woman for the first time.
"Mr. Ross, it's a pleasure to meet you finally," Fiona greeted him graciously and gestured for him to sit.
Mr. Ross couldn't help but feel relieved.
Although they had the upper hand in the project with Solomon, maybe Fiona was still not fully aware of the situation since she had just taken over Solomon.
Or perhaps she didn't want to lose this collaboration, considering that both sides would suffer losses if it ended.
It was unnecessary to kill the enemy at the cost of hurting oneself.
"I've heard a lot about Fiona's name, and today, I finally have the honor of meeting her." Mr. Ross put
on the appearance of a wealthy gentleman.
Fiona smiled and said, "I must have caused Mr. Ross quite a bit of frustration, haven't I?"
The smile on Mr. Ross's face froze for a moment, then he laughed awkwardly and replied, "Of course not."
Fiona shifted her gaze away and said, "Let's get back on track. The project is about to begin, and we should clarify some details."
Mr. Ross responded and reached out to take the contract signed by Annie from his secretary behind him.
Unexpectedly, he hadn't even received that contract yet.
Fiona's assistant placed a document in front of him.
"What's this?" Mr. Ross looked at Fiona, bewildered.
Fiona remained composed and said, "It's a new contract. Take a look."
"A new contract?"
Kevin, Annie's assistant, who had been silent in the crowd, couldn't help but frown and speak up,
"Fiona, didn't we already finalize the contract before Christmas? Where did this new contract come from?"
Fiona looked at Kevin and said, "Oh, it's you?"
Kevin became livid but continued, "On the previous contract, Annie, our company already made significant concessions."
"Is that so?" Fiona withdrew her gaze and looked at Mr. Ross. "But, Mr. Ross, things have changed. The Ross family cannot naively expect to take a large portion of profits from Solomon after setting a trap to kill me and my husband."
"Fiona, it was Robert who set the trap that harmed you and your husband. Annie was also deceived. I went to see her and learned the whole story. After Robert found out that Miss Hathaway had cancer, he began a cruel revenge scheme. He only found Annie two months before the incident and lured her into the trap!"
Kevin spoke with a deep voice, "During this time, Miss Annie has been trying to communicate with you, but you never agreed to meet. You wanted to label the Ross family while trying to reduce their benefits in the cooperation."
Mr. Ross remained silent.
Mr. Ross tacitly agreed with Kevin's statement.
"Why should I care about how Annie got in touch with Robert or how they colluded?" Fiona's tone turned cold. "All I know is that Annie got involved. Kevin, since you're so articulate, please continue speaking. I want to hear how you can exonerate Annie from her actions."
Kevin's face grew even uglier. "I've said it before, Annie was seduced by Robert!"
"You are her admirer, and Mr. Ross is her father. Both of you can find all sorts of reasons to defend her. But I am the victim. What right do you have to demand that the victim find excuses and prove her innocence?"
"Fiona, you also bear responsibility for Hathaway's tragedy!" Kevin's tone became more intense.
"What responsibility? Before the marriage, didn't you investigate the other party's background? Didn't you know about my existence?" Fiona asked sharply. "Moreover, after breaking the engagement, what kind of life Hathaway would live depended on herself. If you need to place blame, it should be Mr. Ross's responsibility. Mr. Ross was indifferent to his daughter, leading her into the abyss with no chance of returning. He was even worse than Robert, who never gave up on saving Hathaway. Mr. Ross chose to abandon her as soon as she lost her value."
"You!" Mr. Ross widened his eyes.
"Did I say something wrong?" Fiona fearlessly looked at him. "Don't even think about trying to attach nonexistent crimes to me and my husband. Moral coercion won't work."
After saying this, Fiona hugged her arms and leaned back on the chair.
"Stop dawdling! Take a look at the contract, and if you think it's not suitable, I can find someone else."
Fiona's words startled the Ross family on the other side.
"Fiona, this partnership was established with us when Mr. Solomon was still here. What do you mean “you can someone else”?" someone from the Ross family retorted.
"Yeah, we've already invested a lot of manpower and resources in the early stages!" another member of the Ross family added.
After the Ross family finished their chatter, Fiona responded nonchalantly, "The decision to cooperate or not lies with the Ross family, not with me."
Mr. Ross's expression turned grim.
He flipped through the contract with a dark face, and after finishing reading, he almost laughed in anger.
"Fiona, after calculating all the details of this big project, is the profit that comes to us less than ten percent?"
"There are many companies with more influence than the Ross family that are willing to cooperate with Solomon and Solomon Energy for the same profit," Fiona couldn't be bothered with this talk. "The choices in front of you are only to accept or not to accept."
"We have already signed a contract, Fiona. If you randomly cancel the cooperation, we can file a lawsuit against you for breach of contract," Kevin said sternly.
This woman was really stubborn!
"Of course you can." Fiona acted as if she didn't care at all. "As long as you can hold onto the compensation."
Mr. Ross's face became gloomy.
The scene of the Astralis family being shorted was vividly remembered.
Mr. Ross hadn't forgotten that Chelsea was already a legendary stock market manipulator.
"Fiona, my daughter has done something that hurt you and your husband. I deeply apologize for that, and I am willing to give up profit in the cooperation. I agree to sign this contract as compensation,"
Mr. Ross said in a deep voice. "However, I hope you can spare Annie this time, considering my old age and the fact that I have no one left to rely on. Let me take her home."
Let Annie go home?
Did Darwin go home?
Mr. Ross dared to come to her and ask her to let Annie go home.
