Chapter 879

"Sure, let's go." Stella, knowing Mason's background, softened toward him. "Have you had your snacks?"

"I had a little. The rest was shared with the believers," Mason replied. He didn't mention that when he shared with the believers, he prayed in his heart for Stella's future health.

Stella reminded. "You'd better listen to Liam. Next time I come, I will ask him!"

Mason looked up at her and asked, "Aren't you going to the church for breakfast? Today, there's toast and coffee!"

Stella's original plan was to stop by a renowned coffee shop on the way.

Seeing Mason's hopeful look, she looked at Alexander and asked, "Alexander, shall we eat before we go?"

"Sure!" Mason nodded eagerly before Alexander could answer.

"Let's eat before we go," Alexander said with a sigh.

Mason's happiness was palpable. He said, "Hurry up. We might miss it if we're late!"

Stella and Alexander followed behind Mason.

Mason seemed more lively than the recent days.

Arriving at the church, Mason helped Stella with toast and coffee and also served a portion of oatmeal.

Then he sat across from Stella, his eyes shining as he watched her eat.

Stella wasn't expecting much from the church food, but when she took a bite of the toast, it surprisingly tasted good.

She quickly finished three slices of toast and a cup of coffee.

Then she felt very satisfied after eating.

Mason watched with delight.

After breakfast, it was time for Stella and Alexander to leave.

Mason walked them to the car, a look of reluctance creeping onto his face.

"It'll be cold next time you come, Stella. Make sure to dress warmly." Mason stood by the car door, looking up at Stella.

He hinted, trying to gauge when she would come next time.

Stella was different from the believers who used to come to the church. She was restless, outspoken, and unconventional. Yes, she played with him, played him ice cream, chatted with him, and listened to him talk about the stray cats in the church.

"Next time, it shouldn't be cold yet. I'll come when the leaves in the center of the church turn yellow," Stella said with a smile.

Mason calculated and asked, "Will you come here in three or four months?"

"Maybe sooner, depending on the situation!" Stella replied.

"Okay! Try to come earlier!" Mason said seriously, "We have toast on the 5th, 8th, and 15th of each month for you to enjoy!"

"I got it." Stella knew that Mason was reluctant to see her go.

She touched Mason's cheek and said, "You go back. Next time I come here, I'll bring you something delicious!"

Mason stepped back a bit and waved his hand.

Stella waved back at him. Then she turned and got into the car.

Closing the door, she looked through the rearview mirror and saw Mason wiping tears with his sleeve.

Stella felt a pang in her heart.

Alexander held her hand.

Then, the SUV slowly left the parking lot.

What Alexander and Stella didn't know was that after they left, Father Ben, leaning on a cane and assisted by Liam, stepped over the threshold and walked out.

Father Ben's gaze followed the car as it drove away.

"Father Ben, why didn't you see Alexander?" Liam asked helplessly.

When the car disappeared from view completely, Father Ben finally said, "I just can't figure it out."

He never understood why a good disciple like Alexander only went home once.
