Chapter 1140

Fiona kicked off her shoes and asked, "Why didn't you take it to Darwin for lunch?"

"Mr. Solomon ain't home," Lyold said, shaking his head.

Fiona raised an eyebrow. "Not home?"

Lyold nodded. "Yeah, he took off before dawn."

When Fiona got there, she saw Xavier still hanging out at Emerald Pool.

"Did you see him leave?" Fiona asked.

Lyold, looking a bit jittery at Fiona's sudden serious tone, nodded nervously. "Yeah, around four or five in the morning. I saw Mr. Solomon drive out when I got up."

"Was he alone?" Fiona asked again, texting Xavier at the same time.

Fiona: [What's Darwin's schedule today?]

Lyold replied, "Yeah, he was alone."

Xavier texted back quickly.

Xavier: [Mr. Solomon's got no work today; he's been home all day.]

Fiona went quiet, her face turning cold as she headed straight to the third-floor bedroom.

She opened the door. Everything looked normal.

Lyold, not sure what was going on, followed Fiona, clearly freaked out.

"Has the third floor been cleaned today?" Fiona asked.

Lyold shook his head. "Mr. Solomon said not to come up without permission."

Fiona started to get annoyed. "Call Darwin," she told Lyold.

Lyold nodded quickly and made the call, but it went straight to voicemail.

Fiona's face darkened even more.

"Chelsea, Mr. Solomon might be busy with work," Lyold tried to reassure her.

"Chicago and Charles will be home soon; go get ready for that," Fiona said.

Lyold nodded and went downstairs.

Fiona tried to calm herself, pacing back and forth in the room. After the anger, she started to worry.

The past two years had been rough for Fiona's family. Darwin drove out by himself, and his leg hadn't fully healed.

As she was thinking, Fiona suddenly felt something under her foot. She frowned and moved her foot, spotting a pill on the carpet.

Fiona picked it up and looked toward the bedside. The pill bottle was there.

She paused momentarily, her expression shifting as she picked up the bottle.

She unscrewed the cap and saw that the pills, which had been opened a few days ago, were more than half gone overnight.

Although taking more of this medication wouldn't be fatal, it could have other side effects.

She hurried downstairs and went straight to the house's surveillance room.

"Mrs. Solomon, what brings you here?" Christopher happened to be there.

"Show me the surveillance footage of the elevator and garage from around four or five in the morning," Fiona said coldly.

The staff in charge of surveillance immediately complied.

"What happened?" Christopher asked.

Fiona stayed silent.

In the fast-forwarded elevator footage, Darwin's hurried figure appeared at 4:45 a.m. He didn't look well. His hair was a bit messy. He seemed to be on the phone with someone.

When he reached the garage, he said into the phone, "Find a place to hide; I'll be there soon!"
