Chapter 1188

Fiona saw the red in the pool.

"Oh my God!" She grabbed Darwin's hand. "What happened?"

"I got cut here," Darwin pointed to the porcelain shard.

Fiona noticed a piece with some of Darwin's skin still on it.

"It's okay, it looks worse than it is," Darwin tried to reassure her.

Fiona didn't respond. She picked up Darwin's phone. "Let's go to the hospital to clean and bandage it."

Darwin wanted to say it wasn't necessary but saw Fiona was really upset, so he agreed.

Xavier saw Darwin come out injured and felt a bit numb.

On the way to the hospital, Darwin tried to distract Fiona. "Rex called. He got held up and asked me to tell you he's sorry and will see you next time."

"Were you distracted by his call and got hurt?" Fiona looked at Darwin sharply.

Darwin was taken aback. "It was my own carelessness."

"Darwin, I don't like him. Can you avoid him? Every time you see him, you get hurt. First, you saved him, then the park incident, and last time you fell into the lake at his place."

"Honey," Darwin hugged Fiona, patting her back. "I'm fine, relax."

Fiona rested her head on Darwin's chest, feeling a mix of emotions.

Darwin's wound wasn't deep, no stitches needed. The doctor thought Fiona was overreacting.

He just disinfected, bandaged it, and prescribed antibiotics.

"See, I told you it was nothing," Darwin tried to comfort Fiona.

Just then, they heard a voice. "Mr. Solomon, Mrs. Solomon!"

Fiona and Darwin turned; it was Hubert's assistant.

"Ms. Everhart," Fiona greeted, "Are you okay?"

"It's not me." Elowen glanced at Darwin's bandaged hand. "What happened to Mr. Solomon?"

"I was careless and got cut. My wife insisted on getting it bandaged," Darwin replied.

"You two have such a good relationship," Elowen smiled professionally.

"Ms. Everhart, why don't you go ahead with your work?" Fiona was worried she'd notice something.

"I'm done. It's Patricia who had an incident." Just then, Hubert walked over.

"Mr. Solomon, Mrs. Solomon, what a coincidence," Hubert said, noticing Darwin's bandaged hand.

"Did Patricia have an incident?" Fiona's nerves tightened. "What happened?"

"She slit her wrists," the assistant said. "She found out her mom died and had a breakdown."

Fiona's breath caught. "How is she?"

"She was found in time, so she's not in serious danger. Her family finally realized the severity and won't take her back. She'll stay at my institute for long-term treatment," Hubert sighed. "Sometimes, bad things turned out to have unexpected benefits."

Fiona nodded. "For any expenses, come to me."

"Alright," Hubert nodded, then looked at Darwin. "How did you get hurt?"

"It was an accident." Darwin raised his hand.
