Chapter 727 Be By Her Side
Burl fell silent. He held back from rolling his eyes, but he failed. "Are you all too young or too idle to have nothing better to do? First of all, shouldn't they leave since they took over someone else's island? Whether they leave or not, what does it have to do with the coral? They didn't conserve it before, did they?"
Mandy and the others looked at each other, seeming to agree with his reasoning. "You guys rushed in, wielding your imaginary heroism, taking pictures with your phones at the doorstep of the person who got injured while saving an innocent girl. Think about it morally. Is this behavior correct?"
Burl argued with conviction. Mandy and the others looked at each other, feeling somewhat embarrassed.
"We don't have ill intentions. Our purpose is to cherish the coral." Mandy's confidence noticeably wavered.
"Burl, what are you doing? I could hear you shouting from afar." Just then, Fiona's gentle and melodic voice came from the garden.
"Sis, didn't I tell you to rest properly? Why did you come out? I can handle it!" Burl quickly trotted over to Fiona and glanced at the sun as if afraid it would harm Fiona with its rays. "Mr. Harold, why didn't you stop her? The sun is scorching!"
Harold sighed. "Fiona heard a commotion outside and was afraid you and Mike would get into a physical altercation with the volunteers."
"No!" Mike immediately waved his hand. He had only kicked someone, nothing more. There was a big difference between kicking and physically attacking. Fiona glanced past Burl and focused her gaze on the volunteers. Fiona was not usually aggressive, and now, due to her injury, her face looked a bit strained. She looked vulnerable at that moment.
"Do you need something?" Fiona asked. Mandy was the first to regain her composure. When she arrived, she was full of confidence, but after seeing Jerry's true colors, her confidence had diminished significantly. Now, she saw Fiona in such a soft state, and her confidence completely disappeared.
"We came to say that even if the islanders leave, we will stay until the coral is properly evaluated. If the coral is truly valuable, we will protect it at all costs!" Mandy replied. "Yes, we will never compromise with capitalists!" the others echoed.
But their initial aggressive attitude had disappeared.
"No one is asking you not to stay and protect it to the end," Fiona said calmly. "Children, don't be so nervous. I am a capitalist, but I am reasonable. If the coral is truly valuable, I will hire the most professional team to protect and preserve it. And even if it's not valuable, I will be willing to spend a fortune to preserve it as a future ecological attraction on the island since that coral sea is so beautiful."
"Really?" Mandy was extremely shocked. All the information she had received so far was that capitalists would definitely destroy the coral in order to build luxurious islands.
"I have no reason to lie and appease you," Fiona's tone remained calm. "As for whether you stay or leave before the dust settles, my opinion is the same as the other day. Do not litter. Protect the ecological environment here."
After finishing speaking, Fiona looked at Burl, who looked puffed up, and said, "Aren't you supposed to go and collect your equipment? Stop pretending to be a pufferfish and go."
Burl muttered to himself.
Burl then warily looked at Mandy and the others and said, "You’ve got your answers. Are you planning to continue disturbing my sister here?"
Mandy blushed. Before leaving, she mustered up the courage to say, "Even though you are a woman, you should keep your word!"
"Okay." Fiona nodded.
Only then did Mandy and the others leave with peace of mind. Burl and Mike followed behind them.
Fiona shook her head and said, "With such a beautiful girl standing in front of him, how can Burl, a man in his twenties, not appreciate her?" Burl was likely to stay single for another year.
Harold felt a bit sour. "He only has eyes for you, constantly protecting you."
Fiona glanced at Harold and said, "Stop making snide remarks. Burl and I have a pure sibling bond."
"I understand. You can go inside. It’s baking,"
Fiona replied, glancing at Burl and Mike, worried that they might start fighting with the girl.
In reality, the situation here was relatively harmonious.
As Burl walked away, he immediately sent all the videos he had collected to Mandy.
"So many?" Mandy hadn't seen the content yet, but judging from the video thumbnails, Jerry had filmed different girls in each one.
He had filmed almost all the female volunteers on the island!
"There's also a file package that he secretly filmed before, stored in his phone. I hacked into it and sent it to you as well," Burl said, impatiently putting away his phone. "Mike, can you handle it or not? We searched all night but still couldn't catch that son of a bitch who hurt my sister!!"
Mandy was about to respond to Burl's first half of the sentence.
But Burl didn't give her a chance at all. After handing over the items, he turned to Mike to complain.
"Is your sister's eye all right?" Mandy asked.
"My sister is protected by God, of course, she's fine," Burl answered without hesitation, his tone proud and somewhat fierce. "Mike, do you see the guy coming this way? Is he the son of the Gray family?"
Yesterday, something happened to his sister at their doorstep!
"Yes, that's him!" Mike replied.
"Good, I haven't gone to settle the score with those losers, yet he came right to us!"
Seeing this, Mandy quickly pulled Burl back.
Burl looked at her in astonishment.
Mandy said, "Your sister just told you not to fight!"
"When did I say I wanted to fight?" Burl was even more bewildered.
Mandy let go with some embarrassment.
Coincidentally, Cyrus walked a few steps closer.
"Young man, that's my boss's residence up ahead. You should stop," Mike said to Cyrus.
Cyrus looked at Mike, thought for a moment, and asked, "Are you Miss Woods' bodyguard?"
"Yes," Mike straightened his back, instantly becoming tall and imposing, in stark contrast to Cyrus, who had a lean build.
"I want to be Miss Woods' bodyguard," Cyrus said shortly after.
Mike paused for a moment, then laughed. "Who do you think my boss is? Can you become her bodyguard just by saying so? Look at you. You're like a bean sprout. Charlotte can easily defeat you with one hand, do you believe it?"
"Charlotte?" Cyrus frowned.
Mike proudly said, "She's my colleague's daughter and a tough person who can single-handedly take down top-level assassins at the age of 11!" "
