Chapter 576 Bent on Revenge

When Lilian received the message on Facebook, she had just arrived at a hotel in Bay City. She knew Darwin had informants set up at the immigration and customs checkpoints. He would be sure to find out the moment she returned to the country. To prepare for her upcoming plans, Simon provided her with a completely new identity, so her re-entry wasn't noticed at all.

Returning to familiar grounds, Lilian was actually in quite a good mood. However, that good mood crumbled the moment she saw the message on Facebook. She immediately called Jason.

Jason never really expected Lilian to respond to his message. Suddenly getting a voice call from her caught him by surprise. He quickly answered the call, "Lilian?"

"Jason, it's been a long time since we caught up. I'm glad you still remember me." Lilian's tone was as gentle as ever. "How have you been doing? Is your work going well?"

Lilian’s comforting words instantly soothed Jason's anxious heart. He had developed a fondness for Lilian while working at Solomon Headquarters but knew he was no match for Darwin in terms of background or capabilities. Chasing after Lilian felt like reaching for the stars to him.

"It was going alright. You got me a very nice position," Jason said, and then he sighed heavily, "But, I think I might resign."

"Why? Did you find a new opportunity?" Although Lilian had already known the reason, she pretended to be unaware and continued to inquire.

Jason had not been in contact with her for a while. As soon as Fiona took the helm, he had reached out to her. After all, when Lilian was working at Solomon, she quickly eliminated many of Fiona's allies.

Lilian naturally assumed that Fiona was giving Jason trouble too.

"There's no better place than Solomon. I've worked there for several years...," Jason said with a bitter smile. "But today, I offended Fiona. If I don't resign, she'll probably force me out anyway, so I might as well avoid the humiliation."

Lilian's grip on her phone tightened at the mention of Fiona.

These three people were too heartbreaking and annoying.

"What did you do to offend her?" Lilian asked with genuine concern.

"I just can't stand it when people smear one person to praise another. Today, Fiona had just arrived at the company when I caught some people badmouthing you in order to lift her up!" Jason became agitated. "I owe you a lot, and I know you far better than they do. I was furious, so I reprimanded them. Unfortunately, Fiona overheard..."

Jason stopped there, not wanting to delve into more details.

Lilian stood there with a look of distress on her face.

"I'm sorry, but with my current situation... I can't really help you," Lilian said sadly.

"Lilian, has Fiona hurt you, too?" Jason asked urgently.

Lilian pondered for a moment, then let out a heavy sigh. "Jason, there are things I just don't know who to talk to about. Right now, I really don't know what to do," she confessed.

As she spoke, Lilian started crying on the other end of the phone.

"Don't cry, Lilian. Just tell me what's wrong. I'll do everything I can to help you," Jason hurriedly assured her.

"I...," Lilian sobbed repeatedly.
"Jason, the thing is, I'm pregnant with Darwin's child..."

Jason was shocked as if struck by lightning. "What?"

"Darwin loves another woman. I've completely given up on him. Plus, he has a child with Fiona now. I couldn't let his child grow up fatherless, so, I chose to step back and leave. But right after I left, I found out I was pregnant..."

"Does Darwin know?" Jason asked, his heart pounding.

"No..."

"You have to tell him," Jason blurted out.

He hadn't expected this.

Today, his words were about to come true.

‘Fiona, your gloating days are over,’ he thought.

"But Darwin is already married!" Lilian cried heartbreakingly.

"So what? Why did Darwin marry Fiona? Don't you understand? Fiona was just a stand-in for you. Darwin married her just because she had two children. But Darwin truly loves you, doesn't he? If you also have his child, he'll surely choose you again," Jason spoke passionately.

"What if he doesn't choose me?" Lilian's hands clenched into fists.

Although she felt that what Jason said made sense.

That's how it should indeed be.

Lilian fumed at the injustice of it all. Someone, like Darwin, would choose true love over a mere substitute.

"If he doesn't choose you, then Darwin is nothing but a cad, and you shouldn't consider him or that despicable woman. You need to make a big deal out of this. You and your child's rightful property must not be forsaken! For the rest of your life, you have to be the thorn in their side, the one that lies between Darwin and Fiona," Jason said angrily. "Didn't Darwin tweet before that their family life is now peaceful and happy? Why should you, the victim, suffer such agony while they live peacefully and happily? You must make them unhappy to avenge the betrayal and pain they've caused you!"

Jason had been working in Human Resources for a while, he was adept at persuading and sweet-talking people. Coincidentally, Lilian was thinking along the same lines. They were on the same page.

"You're right, why should I be the one to bear all the suffering?" Lilian sobbed, her tone becoming more intense. "Jason, can you help me?"

"I'll definitely help you." Jason promised without hesitation.

Lilian was a fragile and innocent woman without any guile. Under these circumstances, she would either not act at all or leave no stone unturned if she did. Therefore, he had to assist.

"If this works out, I won't let you down." Lilian's voice softened again.

Jason particularly adored this tenderness of hers toward him. He then started to daydream. She was so vulnerable now. If he were to help her, like a hero, maybe she would be moved and fall for him. The best outcome would be for Lilian not to continue with Darwin but still get everything she was due. Then they could live a blissful life together.

"Where are you right now? I'll come to see you, and we can discuss the details in person," Jason said.

"But you must be very careful on your way over. If Fiona's people find out about my pregnancy, my child and I won't survive."

"Understood." Jason nodded vigorously.

After hanging up the phone, he received a text with an address from an unknown number. Thinking about how he was about to pull off something that would stun everyone, a fire burned in his chest. He packed his briefcase and glanced at the plaque on his desk that read 'Director of Human Resources'. He cursed vehemently. Once he accomplished this task, he wouldn't need this job anymore. Nobody would want to continue working for Fiona, that contemptible person.
