Chapter 820 Tearful Compensation

"Enough!" Benjamin shouted.

Caroline looked at Benjamin and said, "You've had enough; Fiona just said you were a parasite, sponging off your wife. Haven't you freeloaded off me and using my money? How much money did you take from Mom and Dad? How much of that was earned by me!"

When Benjamin heard the words 'sponging off', his pride was severely pricked.

He cursed and then slapped Caroline.

As a young man in his prime, his strength was certainly not on the same level as Elizabeth's.

Caroline's ears rang from the blow, and she tasted blood in her mouth. Without hesitation, she lunged at Benjamin, screaming and cursing, fighting desperately with Benjamin.

Elizabeth pounded her chest and stomped her feet, trying to separate the siblings. Before she could do so, someone kicked her in the stomach, causing her to lose her balance. As she fell, she grabbed the tablecloth on the table and tugged at it, causing a set of tableware to crash to the ground, the sound of dollars shattering.

This finally brought the fighting siblings back to their senses.

"Oh my goodness!" Benjamin exclaimed, "A single cup costs thousands of dollars, and this is a whole set!"

Caroline hesitated for a moment, then suddenly went crazy, sitting on the ground, clapping and laughing. "Compensation!"

Since none of that money would end up in her pocket, she might as well let it go to waste, and no one should spend it!

Elizabeth looked at the shattered porcelain on the ground, finally losing her temper, rolling her eyes, and collapsing on the floor.

Outside, the manager and servers remained calm, enjoying the gossip.

This restaurant was opened by Thalassa and Fiona.

When leaving, Fiona instructed them not to intervene if things got out of hand. The surveillance was recorded the whole time. If anyone got hurt, they should call 911 promptly. However, for the loss of tableware or damage to the decor during the brawl, they must be compensated accordingly.

After Elizabeth fainted, the restaurant immediately called an ambulance. Elizabeth was carried away on a stretcher; the manager released Caroline but not Benjamin.

"Sir, here is the bill for the damages. You need to settle it." the manager politely presented the bill.

Benjamin glanced at it, his face dark as thunder, saying, "Just a few cups and saucers, and do you want me to pay eighty thousand? Are you robbing me?"

"We have procurement contracts, and the prices are calculated based on depreciation. If we were to calculate based on the purchase price, it would be even more," the manager explained reasonably, "And it's not just the tableware; there's also the tablecloth your mother tore."

"Too expensive, I'll give you at most... at most two thousand dollars! My mother fainted here, and I will hold you responsible!" Benjamin said, thinking that even two thousand dollars was too much!

"We are employees; how can we set the prices? If you insist on this, we will have to call the police. Anyway, the surveillance in the private room has been on the whole time. Once they see the footage, it will be clear what happened, and it has nothing to do with our restaurant. We are the victims here!" the manager said calmly and methodically.

When Benjamin heard that the surveillance had been on the whole time, he started to feel uneasy.

How could the police view the footage?

Fiona assured him that nothing would happen, but what if she accused him of something?

"Call the police," the manager said to the waiter behind him.

The waiter immediately picked up the phone.

"Forget it!" Benjamin winced in pain. He took out a few cards and paid the bill in installments.

"Please keep your receipt and invoice." the manager remained polite.

Benjamin snatched them forcefully, his face still dark, and walked away quickly.

As he left the restaurant, he was extra careful, afraid of touching anything else and incurring more expenses.

After leaving the restaurant, Fiona went straight home, and Christopher sent the documents to the principal.

The principal had thought this matter would take some time to resolve, but to his surprise, Fiona had handled it so quickly. He looked through all the authorizations in disbelief. There was even a document where Benjamin agreed to Eleanor changing her name.

"Thank you!" the headmaster nodded repeatedly with red eyes.

Christopher fell silent. He had seen this principal twice at the parent-teacher meetings. Honestly, this headmaster seemed a bit too emotional, didn't he?

He carefully put away the documents.

Knowing that Christopher was Charlotte's father, the principal praised Charlotte extensively: "Charlotte has made remarkable progress. In her first exam after enrolling, although she didn't come last, her ranking was not impressive. But in the last exam, she came first in her year, surpassing second place with over thirty points. She told the teacher that she could do even better in the final exam."

"She's a bit overconfident; I'll talk to her about it when I get home," Christopher said, knowing that teachers always wanted students to be humble.

"But we shouldn't undermine the child's confidence. She's not being arrogant, she's... how should I say, she's very spirited!" the principal said.

Charlotte was quiet at school. She spoke very little and avoided interacting with others as much as possible. Surprisingly, none of her classmates seemed to dislike her for it.

Recently, the principal caught several older students running over to give Charlotte love letters. The principal and Fiona had discussed this before. Fiona had mentioned that if any students sent love letters to Charlotte, they shouldn't inform her father. If it got serious, they should just inform her.

Although the principal didn't quite understand why, he cooperated fully.

After being praised for Charlotte, Christopher left with a spring in his step.

He said he could spot Charlotte covered in ants in a garbage heap from a distance, which was enough to show how outstanding Charlotte was!

After Christopher left, the principal started flipping through a dictionary. The name Eleanor wasn't very good. He wanted to help Eleanor choose a name with a better meaning, one that would lead her to a bright future!

When Fiona returned home, Darwin's rehabilitation was in progress.

Rehabilitation was never an easy process.

Fiona quietly went outside to watch. Darwin's face was pale, with beads of sweat on his forehead. Every muscle stretch brought unimaginable pain. Fiona trembled as she watched. No wonder she had suggested that Chicago and Charles accompany him for rehabilitation, but Darwin had refused. If Charles and Chicago saw him in such pain, they would be very upset.

Fiona hesitated for a moment and didn't go in.

When the rehabilitation was almost over, and he wasn't in such a sorry state, Fiona finally knocked on the door.

The rehabilitation doctor briefly updated Fiona on Darwin's condition and the plan for the future. His condition wasn't great, but it wasn't too bad either. With prolonged rehabilitation, he could recover up to ninety percent.

After seeing off the rehabilitation doctor, Fiona sat across from Darwin and touched his cheek, asking, "Does it hurt?"

Darwin shook his head and said, "No, don't worry."

Fiona didn't expose Darwin's lie and changed the subject, saying, "Everything regarding Eleanor has been taken care of." "
