Chapter 1375
Odette used the cash Marisole left behind to hire a private eye to track down Paul and his family.
The private eye was a mixed-race guy. Odette wrote in her diary that he was super handsome, with these striking gray-green eyes, almost as good-looking as Aiden.
When Fiona read this part, she got chills.
Three months later, even after spending a ton of money, Odette still hadn't found the family.
But she didn't care anymore.
One night, she hooked up with the private eye.
In her diary, Odette wrote: [All my previous feelings were wrong. This is the love I truly want. Just a little correction. Dear Marisole, I know I'll be happy in the end.] By this time, it had been two years since she escaped from the Solomon family.
The past with the Solomons was already a distant memory for her.
The private eye was different from Paul.
He'd get her gifts for every holiday and would come over to cook for her on occasions like Christmas, keeping her company so she wouldn't feel lonely.
Odette was head over heels for him, almost giving him everything she had.
Even when he needed to use the house her parents left behind as collateral for a loan, Odette agreed without a second thought.
They were in love like this for over three years.
Then Odette got pregnant.
She excitedly told the detective.
But the next day, the detective vanished.
When Odette was five months pregnant, she finally found him.
By then, she had just lost her house because of the expired mortgage and had very little money left.
But when Odette finally spotted the detective, she saw him being all lovey-dovey with another woman.
Odette lost it.
She rushed over, claiming to be the detective's wife, and pointed to her pregnant belly, saying she was carrying his child. The woman was shocked, slapped the detective, and ran away.
Seeing his new source of money run away, the detective slapped Odette and said, "My wife? You, a slut who has slept with others, dare to call yourself that? Who knows whose bastard you're carrying? Don't even think about pinning it on me!"
In her diary, Odette wrote that she couldn't live without love.
So she knelt and begged the detective, saying she would give him money.
The detective sneered, "What money do you have left? You don't even have enough for an abortion. I know your situation; I knew how much money you had from the start."
Saying this, he thought for a moment, probably feeling pity for Odette.
He took out some money from his wallet and threw it in front of her. "Go get an abortion. You're so pretty; I'll introduce you to a rich old man. You'll live well!"
Odette looked at him and asked, "Don't you love me? You're introducing me to other men?"
The detective laughed disdainfully. "To be honest, I never loved you."
This sentence became the cause of Odette's death.
Pregnant, Odette was no match for the detective physically.
So she came up with a plan.
She said, "I have a diamond ring, a very expensive one. You've seen it. Stay with me for two more days, and I'll give you the ring. Then I'll get rid of this child."
The detective, blinded by greed and believing Odette to be naive, agreed. With a single word of love, she was ready to give him anything.
The detective was also driven by lust.
There weren't many rich, pretty, and gullible women around.
